HRE Chrome problems..

Hi.



Got HRE's on mine..black powder coated centers with chrome lips.. problem is with chrome pitting.. Ive been a slave to these wheels keeping them polished and still got this "Dirt" in the chrome.brought them back to HRE dealer in NJ and he tried to rub it out with no luck. Wheel was sent back to HRE in Ca. and now I'm told it's not a warranty issue. I asked why not and was told it's a brake dust problem..?????????? No need to say how pissed I got.. HRE will take wheels back ( at my expense ) and re-polish ( at my expense ) but what guarantee is there it won't happen again?? NONE !

The wheels have been on the car for less than 6 months..and brake dust wasn't "Allowed" to sit on the wheels longer than a few days..I busted my *** keepinig them clean.

Anyone else with similar problem's with HRE's finishing or other wheel company problems?

Seems I should have considered a less expensive wheel and one with better customer/quality representation.

Thats a shame? Could it also have been caused by the salt on the roads. We've had quite a nasty winter in terms of road salt and debris on the roads here.



What kind of car and brake pads?
 
Na I've been a slave to these wheels since day one, dirt ( as well as anything else, brake dust etc.) hasn't sat on the wheels for any period of time..It's pure poor quality in such an expensive wheel backed by POOR customer service.

There' on my 06 BMW 530 XiT Wagon.

This is very interesting...My dad was warned about the same problem when he was looking for wheels for his GTS and he went with them anyways and we havent had one problem with them yet and it is driven on the weekends and track race every now and then.

HRE wasn't the wheel cracking. I know this is my first post, but I've got something to say about HRE and their chroming. All the HRE wheels I've seen that are chromed, lip included, have been chromed by a third party.
 
I've got HRE's on my ride and have nothing but headaches with the chrome finish.. even being a slave to them they still pit and do not hold a shine for long..



I contacted HRE and was told that regular maintinance is a must to prevent this occurance and it's NOT a warranty issue..



One cannot be more vigilant than I and still have constant discoloration and pitting..

Why not strip them down and have them dipped yourself by a dedicated chromer? or even better have them Nickel finished.
 
You're not the first I've heard with HRE telling them to take a hike when it came to the durability of their finishes.



If you decide to go elsewhere; look for a company called Advanced Plating. They do outstanding chrome work.



Has anyone ever deciphered what brand the wheel that came apart actually was? I've seen and iForged and a Bogart have broken welds/failures here lately.
 
HRE is overpriced with horrible customer service!!



U can get better quality and nicer wheels for half the price with DPE!!
