How you "look" at cars

It used to be that I looked over at a car and noticed the brand, or the color, or the driver.

Now I look over and notice the dirt, the swirls, what it would take me to fix them. Is this part of becoming a normal Autopian? Am I becoming "clear" now? :nervous2:

"No, really, can't you SEE that on the paint there?"

"Where?"

"Right THERE, can't you see all those swirls, . . .?"

"Not really, did I do that? Is that something you can fix?"

:buffing:

It's funny reading this thread. I used to do the same thing. Now, I find myself assessing the overall detail of the car, the finish, the wheels, the wheel wells, the tires, the windows and interior if the car is standing still. lol

I can't take my eyes off of a turning black vehicle. The way the sun hits it at all those angles really amplifies every flaw- sick I know.;)

Same here, hate seeing water just sat in pools on roofs & bonnets. Also on a sunny day walking past the rows of cars at work, seeing all the swirls & thinking "sponge", "drive-through", "sponge", "brillo pad, apparently". Drives me nuts.

To me, presentation of a vehicle is everything. Whether its a DD, Garage queen, show car anything. To me, it shows how the vehicle is taken care of. I know that this isnt necessarily true in all cases but if I see a vehicle thats paint is faded, scratched to hell, interior is filthy etc, makes me wonder wat the internals of the engine are like. If you can't take 20mins every now and then to at least wash the car, what would make me think you can take 30mins to at least give it an oil change?

I got it bad !!!!!!!

I detailed a co workers TOYOTA TACOMA a few weeks ago just cause we were going to car pool to work and I didn't want to drive in it with all the swirls it had :(

I've got it to a lesser degree. Instead, mine is longing for the time to properly clean up my black car. I tell people it's destroyed and looks horrible and they all think it's very clean. All I see is scrathces, swirls, neglect during the winter months. :( Of course, this is the first year I've had a garage...
