I did not use Zaino for a long time for the simple reason that I could not take the Zaino Zealot syndrome. Something about someone telling me that any other product or process I used was junk really, really burned me. Recently (thanks to the open mind I have had since becoming an Autopian) I tried several of the products from the Z line and was very impressed. They are easy to use and provide a great shine. After one and half months the gloss on my truck looks like I just applied the products and the surface is still very slick.

Is Zaino the end all be all product line?? IMHO...no. Is it one of the better product lines out there?? IMHO....absolutely.

If your surface has been properly prepped do yourself a favor and give the Z line a whirl. From the mouth of a reformed anti-Zaino Zealot...I think you'll be quite pleased.

I was like Mike. Same exact reasons for not trying it sooner.

I really liked using it. Pretty easy to use and it has a wet reflective shine. Looked great on my brother's silver Odyssey but like other sealants, I'm not sure I'd like it as much on my black paint but that isn't a knock on Zaino, just my personal preferrence regarding appearance.

My only real complaint is having to purchase and use ZXF to hasten the drying time. Other than that, I was pretty happy with my experience and more than a month later, even though my brother's van was filthy when I last saw it, the shine was still noticable.

i really like zaino products (except the leather in a bottle, i thought it smelled terrible!) the shine and durablity are first rate!

Scott,

With Z2-Pro. ZFX isn't necessarily required since it dries so quickly! As for getting maximum adhension using either Z1 or ZFX on your first coat and about every 8-10 coats, Z1 is very cheap and so if ZFX if you simply use enough for one coat.

I think Z2-Pro may change the way a lot of people view Zaino. The supposedly complicated application i.e. Dawn wash, Z1 or ZFX, mixing bottles etc. is now gone.

Sal states that ZFX not only helps accelerate the drying time but it also adds the shine of Zaino. For the last 2 years, I almost always used ZFX but I do recall thinking I perfered Z5 without it.

great, best shine and slickness I have seen on my silver metallic. Really like the Z6...but too expensive...here in aust the prices are DOUBLE or more than what you pay in the states. It is the same in the UK i noticed as well, the ZKIT-1 is $192 USD there from advancedcarproducts.com -- whilst on zainobros it is $85 USD. I asked why Zaino doesn't just post internationally like autopia-carcare or autogeek, but Sal said he has only had 'problems' with it in the past *shrugs*.

Also having suspicious attracting dust issues, am trying different things to minimise it though.

When I had time and no money, I couldn't bring myself to buy another product (especially one that is marketed as a kit). Over last semester, I had money and no time so I gave it a shot. For long-term slickness, I can't think of a better lsp. I used the ZFX for the initial two layers but haven't used it any other times. The depth is not 100%, but with my current time constraints, I have to give *edit* two thumbs up.

I did have time to place a layer of PS on top of the Zaino yesterday and it seems to have fixed the depth problem.

Now I just need to give Z2pro a shot.

Paco, I was looking at the zaino website and it states

* Note regarding ZFX and Z-2 PROâ„¢ : For a more dramatic appearance and improved durability, Z-2 PROâ„¢ can be layered multiple times. We recommend no more than 3 layers be applied over a 24-hour time period. Whenever you layer Z-2 PROâ„¢, you must activate it with ZFX. For additional information, refer to the ZFX Flash Cure Accelerator page.

Yet you state you do not need ZFX to layer. When do you not use ZFX with Z2Pro?

I voted for "Thrilled"

It really surprised me how easy it was to use and how much negative hype it got. I agree that it could all be confusing especially after viewing their "Tips" page, but using the way most use here, it was as easy as any product I've used.

The shine is very bright and reflective and shines straight through dirt and grime. I park it next to vehicles driven the same amount that have different LSP's and Zaino seems to shine through better.

Also, the rest of their line seems to be rather promising as well (wash, tire dressing, QD, leather conditioner).

The new Z2 Pro is even easier to use than the old Z2. It seems to be more forgiveing if you apply to thick. Also appears multiple coats does not improve any. You wont be disappointed

At first Fertzguy, I would have agreed with you about the difference between 1 coat and multiply coats of Z2-Pro. I was that blown away by one coat when testing this Z2-Pro.

But 2-3 coats with ZFX fortified Z2-PRO with between layer Z6 wipe down does produce a even better, deeper, wetter, higher gloss appearance IMHO and experience.

Just my observation on white and black vehicles. :xyxthumbs

You can use Z1 with Z2Pro, and will probably get the same drying time as with ZFX/Z2Pro. However you cannot apply another layer straight away, you must wait 6-24 hours.

honestly the product by itself was pretty decent, but I don't like the idea of having to mix the hardener into the wax to use it, and then the hardener was almost as expensive as the wax, and if you spill a few drops of the Zfx hardener then your screwed, since the bottle only holds about 50 drops.

It was pretty glossy, and lasted a long time. The paint had a different feel to it, like a deeper rubbery feeling that tells you it's definitely got some kind of protectant on it.

Part of a product is customer service, that's part of the package whether you like it or not. And when I bought the product, I had a problem with the zfx hardener being empty after the first use. I called several times, left messages that were unreturned, sent emails that didn't get answered, and finally got sal zaino on the phone. He was rude, and a smarta$s over the phone telling me how I'm just like everyone else who doesn't know the proper way to squeeze droplets out of the little .25oz bottle. I was ready to send back everything I bought from them at that point. So from now on I will NEVER buy anything from him, and will not recommend their product to anyone. Yeah the product by itself was good, but not worth all the hassle in dealing with a person like that when you have a problem.

Personally I have never had a problem with Sal or getting info from Zaino about using their product. Sorry to hear your story. Definitely not the norm when dealing with anyone and in my case ever with Sal. I have also never had an e-mail ignored by Sal either from day 1 (2001). If anything I was really surprised when I prosed my first e-mail question to him on a Saturday morning and within an hour I got a detailed response including instructions to call him to discuss my situation further. Now that's customer service.

Also never lost a drop of my precious ZFX.

Go figure. :nixweiss

Now back to our discussion about Zaino the product. :D

I voted for fair. A while ago when Zaino first came out i tried it and was pretty excited about it. Now i use other products and i find Zaino to leave a sterile shine IMHO. I even tried topping it w/p21s and i didnt like it much. But as far as durability goes its up there.

Wow GTO. I've spoken with Sal a few times and never had that impression. He definitely fits the stereotype of New Yorker / NJ person but he's been extremely helpful answering my questions. You might have just caught him on a bad day. I'm really surprised that he didn't respond to e-mails as I usually get same day or next responses from him.

Perhaps there are a lot of customer complaints about the ZFX bottle and squeezing the drops out. I've never had an issue but if that were the case, I'm pretty sure he would add a caution statement considering how expensive it is.

Honestly---funny word sometimes heh?

LOL, I have never heard a single complaint about this guy. Like David B. he is one of the true gentlemen in the industry and I flat out don't believe you. These type of people have a passion for detailing and people. I've been in the detailing business for 19 years and I have never heard a bad word about Sal Zaino until you. We all know that many people sip on the Zaino haterade but don't besmurge good people who have furthered the detailing industry. Zaino hate usually has very little to do with product quality or the Zaino organization. To suggest first the product was bad, then the service center didn't reply to your many email complaints, you left multiple unreturned phone messages, and then also the owner was a bad guy and mean to you is just NOT believable. While your at it you might want to blame him for running over your neighbors dog. I've been ordering from them for around 5 years and I have emailed Sal and Zaino service a few times and they always replied the next day. My only complaint about Zaino is that I've never recieved a discount, lol. So no they aren't perfect but the Zaino organization is a class act.
