How to Use scratchX with PC

Does anyone have a technique to using scratchX to perfection with a PC?

I know I know its not recommended for using with PC.

But its the only polish I have besides Sonus Paintwork Cleanser which comes after.

I made the mistake of not buying any products along with my PC.

Looking for a polish that will work well with SFX -2 Pad.

The only pads I have are SFX 1, 2, & 3.

Menzerna Maybe? Where Can I get it?

I have Light swirls, and marring from not polishing properly with scratchX by hand.

Ok, You think I should work with the scratchX for now or buy and use Menzerna. How Abrasive is Menzerna IP? Will It look nice topped off with Sonus Paintwork Cleanser?

Or is it too strong of an abrasive for this job?

You are going to need a polish for that. ScratchX is not going to do much for swirls.

Save this link; as it will be very useful: Polish Chart

I think you need to research on the product that you are thinking about. Do not just buy the first thing that comes to mind. Figure out what you are trying to accomplish figure out if the product that you want to use is going to work for you then go from there.

There is plenty of info on this site; you just have to look for it!

It seems to me like Menzerna Final Polish Should Do it,

But if you say ScratchX is not going to get the swirls out How would Menzerna Final Polish get it out?

According to that chart. ScratchX is more abrasive than Menzerna Final Polish?

Now off to do more research, but please keep replying. Feedback will help me decide.

EDIT: Decided to go with Menzerna FPII and top off with Paintwork Cleanser as a final polish

then waxed with NXT then finished with #26

Menzerna FPII with SFX 2 pad

Paintwork Cleanser with SFX 3 pad

NXT with SFX 3 pad

#26 with SFX 3 pad

Tispho,

I would try ScratchX with your PC before buying a bunch of other products. ScratchX is a very mild polish, but like you already know, it is one step more aggressive than Sonus Paintwork Cleanser. No matter what, you will see a difference. You may or may not get all of the defects out, but you will at least get some experience and make the finish a lot better than it is now.

Try not to get caught up in the "product" game for a while if you can help it. At least wait until you learn the process and your own personal technique so you will actually notice the differences between the products when you use them. Believe it or not, products can act completely different from user to user and from car to car.

The technique is actually the same as all polishes. Polish small sections at a time, and work the polish until it disappears, but not so much that you start dry buffing. Just a few small dabs of product on your pad will be enough, and I would work the polish with the PC set at 5 and 6.

Ok, Since I already ordered Menzerna FPII

I'll just add ScratchX to the process as a first step.

If that chart is correct, It helped me a lot. And should be stickied.

Glad you liked the chart. I saw it posted in another thread like this and I looked at it. I as well liked it so I saved it. The menzerna fpII is a good product, you should be very happy with it. I am looking forward picking some of that to play with.

Good Luck and post pictures when its all done!

I seem to recall reading that ScratchX has been reformulated and is now ok for use with a PC. The old product would gum up with a PC I believe.

Correct. Newer one can be recognized by big label on front that says it is DA compatible.

Sound advice. I recently got a PC and have been having fun doing the "mix and match" with pads and products. But it really does come down to the basics first. Today, I was able to use kAIO + CCS Orange @ speeds 3-5 on a car with terrific results. I wasn't going for total correction, but the orange pad made short work of etchings and other crud messing up the beautiful paint!
