How to remove Klasse please

I am getting ready to paint my Reatta and I need to remove every trace of anything on the paints surface. I washed the engine yesterday with industrial soap and at the same time attempted to remove the Klasse application that was performed about 7 months ago on the hood. Well, the paint still beads??? Any suggestions please?

Since you're going to repaint any way, any paint cleaner/solvent will remove the Klasse. Anything like Meguiars Body Solvent or 3M Prepsol will definitely remove it.

You're going to paint the car yourself? If you are taking it to any kind of reputable body shop, the should do complete prep before they paint the car. This would entail stripping it down of all products that might be on the surface.

A proffesional shop is doing the work and you are absolutely correct - they should use prepsol or a similar product, BUT "if you want something done right - you do it yourself". I just want to be sure........I remember seeing something on the removal of Klasse topic some time back but can not find it and forget the particulars......

Yep, those solvents ought to do the trick fine. Keep in mind though, absolutely clean, "naked" paint can still bead.

Thanks...

I am looking for an everyday household product or concoction that will do the same OR will paint thinner/varsol accomplish the same thing?

I'd ber careful what you use so you don't soften the existing paint. An effective "home remedy" is rubbing alcohol, either diluted up to 50:50 with water or used straight. It *will* strip KSG. I just used it straight, not worrying about what the original strength was or what dilution would be OK.
