How to remove defects on new black Mercedes?

I always fail, when it comes to detailing my cars. Firstly, with my older Mercedes in a dark silver paint, it was in good shape, but light marks/swirls (very very few) under intense sun light directly. However, I could never remove those marks.

However, now I have a Mercedes with regular black paint! This thing came from the dealer with issue, but believe me the best one I could find within a couple hundred miles.

Still, it has "dots," of something all over car that evidently sprayed on it or something. Furthermore, it has some light marks and swirls, not too serious, but I can see them when looking at the sun's reflection in paint.

I did the following this weekend: clay, then use meguiar's polishing pad on my g110 with Ultimate Compound, tried M205 and M83 too, but mainly used Ultimate Compound as I knew the others wouldn't begin to help. In the shade, UC made the paint look and feel great.

However, in the sun I still see the light swirls and at night I still see the drops of whatever sprayed/dropped on the car.

With the UC, I did multiple slow passes and like on the hood I did 5 applications. I spent all day.

This paint must just be too hard yes??? It looks gorgeous in shade, or if the clouds are out, but I want it too look good in any light.

What products would I need to use??? This hard paint sucks.

Thanks.

You need a rotary. Maybe someone in your area can get the car back to perfect and afterwards you can maintain it. Where are you located?

some newer MB's have the ceramiclear coating and from what I've been reading on the forum it is very hard and "difficult" to do correction on. I put "difficult" in qoutations becuase an experienced and maticulate detailer may have tips on correction, but for a weekend detailer it may be difficult.

If you benz has the ceramiclear, that could be the reason why you are having difficulty acheiving the results you desire.

I've used Megs Ultimate Compound by hand on my 08 navigator and it took some scratches out no problem.

EDIT: what size pad did you use on the G110? For correction, the general consensus is that a 4" pad is what is needed. Anything larger really doesn't seem to do the job as effectively.

Thanks yes. I think all Mercedes paints these days have the ceramic clears.

Wow. It sure is hard paint. Makes me sad I don't have the tools or polishes to fix it.

Appreciate the links posted to more appropriate products.

yeah almost all the new mbz, bmw and gm's have the new harder clear. in cali all body shops have had to switch to water based paint. in speaking with sevral body shops, they say it is hard as rocks. menz with a green pad to start and then black pad to finish. but i think you might need a rotary

It's funny, the Pontiac G8 has paint that if you look at it wrong it chips, supposedly because its water based. But these other cars are getting new paint that is hard as hell and water based...

Flex + Menzerna ceramiclear polishes = your best buddy.

Agree---I have a black SL55 that has the Ceramiclear paint that I just did yesterday. I used a Flex DA with Menzerna SIP applied with a light cutting pad. Normally I can go directly to my final sealant but there are times when I finish with 106ff and then to the sealant. However, remember "Black is not a color, it's a part time job":lol:lol
