How to remove adapter for flex rotary?

I have a flex rotary along with lake country pads. My problem now is i cant remove the adapter so i can switch from double sided pads to single sided pads. I used two vice grips and it did not work. In fact, it looks like the metal is getting destroyed. I also tried using the vice grip and turning it on.



How do u remove the metal adaptor???

Isn't there a locking button on the top of the Flex?

Yeah, gotta use the spindle lock built into the tool. If you've been grabbing at the spindle of the tool itself with vice grips, you may have done some pretty nasty damage that could affect the functionality of the tool...
