How to: Properly Clean & Maintain Your Windshield

Cleaning and maintaining the windshield on your vehicle not only makes driving more enjoyable, but it's also a safety measure. There are several products on the market today to clean and maintain automotive glass, but I've highlighted the most user friendly and effective products that I've personally dealt with.

One of my co-workers drives 50+ miles a day round trip to and from work, most of which are highway miles. With rainy season just around the corner, it's very important that he can see clearly out of the windshield in his car.

Here are the products we used to clean, protect, and maintain his windshield and windshield wiper blades

-Diamondite Perfect Vision Glass Cleaner
-Cobra Waffle Weave Glass Towel
-303 Wiper Treatment
-Aquapel Glass Treatment and Rain Repellent

Take a look at the windshield prior to cleaning..

The Diamondite Perfect Vision Glass Cleaner is an effective glass cleaner that contains no harsh solvents and is free of alcohol. It's safe on all automotive glass, including tinted windows.

Wipe the glass clean with the Cobra Waffle Weave Glass Towel and flip the towel over to a clean, dry side to buff off any streaks or residue left behind.

Wiper blades can be costly, especially on newer cars where they are only available at the dealership. 303 Wiper Treatment cleans and conditions dry wiper blades and prevents them from skipping and chattering across the windshield. Not only does it clean and condition them, but doing so it extends the life of the wiper blades.

Check out how dirty they were!

Let the treatment soak in for about a minute and then gently wipe off using clean, dry microfiber towel.

The next step is to apply the Aquapel Glass Treatment and Rain Repellent to the windshield. Aquapel Glass Treatment is a sealant for your windshield that repels rain and reduces glare. It's also ideal for those of you in the snow belt because it makes the glass super slick which makes clearing ice and snow much easier.

Pull the tabs to release and activate the formula and spread a thin, even coat across the windshield with overlapping passes, both up, down, and across to ensure even coverage.

Once you have complete coverage, buff it off using a clean, dry microfiber towel.

Now the glass is completely clean, sealed, and protected against the elements for about 6 months. Future cleaning will be much easier and the windshield wiper blades will glide across the glass effortlessly.

What is your background John? You do very nice reviews! I tried the 303 wiper blade wipes today for the first time and I'm looking forward to the results the next time it rains.

I've always been an automotive enthusiast. Some of you may be familiar with Matt@Autogeek, he is one of my closest friends and he has certainly written some fantastic reviews over the years.

Whether it was my motor, or the paint, I always wanted it clean and perfect. Some of the cars that I've owned over the last few years have been; 2001 Audi A4 1.8T, 2005 Honda Civic Si, 2003 Saab 9-3 2.0T, 2007 Civic Si Coupe, and currently a 2010 Mazdaspeed 3. Needless to say, they have all burned holes in my pockets.;)

I've been with PBMA for over a year now. As most people in the industry can say, I still continue to learn something new every day. The technology in the Automotive Care world continues to amaze me as products are developed to make car care that much more interesting. While being with PBMA, I've been trained by the renowned Mike Phillips, and have worked side by side with this forums original owner and founder, Dwayne McPeeks as my personal mentor. For anyone who's familiar with these two individuals, I can definitely say that I'm quite lucky to work with them and have their knowledge at my disposal.

I'm sure I can go on, but I think that touches up on a lot. If you have any other questions, shoot me a PM. I'll be more than happy to answer them:bigups

A clean windshield and clean glass is what makes driving such a joy.
