How to neutralize soapy products?

I'm venturing away from just the family cars that I have kept up through the years to others that haven't been . So lots of diluted APC and carpet cleaners will be used. I've read Folex for the carpets doesn't leave a soapy residue but I may use others as well. So my question is: how to neutralize soapy residue? I've read vinegar at 3:1 would work but I don't want the cars to smell like pickle factories. Any other ideas?

That reminds me...I need to order some *rinse agent*. That's what you need. It's made just for this, for a super-rinse that'll get the soap out better than plain clear water will.

No linky handy, but if you google around for a commercial carpet cleaning supply dealer in your area (a good idea anyhow ;) ) you'll find some.

I'll look around for rinse agents while shopping for the Folex. BTW. I've read the proper dilution for the vinegar solution is one cup per gal. of water or 16:1. Supposedly the vinegar won't smell once dry.

So they say, but I've sometimes noticed a little odor when I've used it as a final rinse on towels/etc. so I wouldn't bet my life on that ;)
