How to make a mean old guy smile............

A little background here.........

My GF (jen) has two young daughters. They come to a lot of car shows with me, a lot... Sometimes they help me get my car ready, inspect it etc.

So Saturday, Jen and I went to an Amish restaurant, this place also had a gift shop. Jen grabbed two things for the girls (same thing for each)

Sunday, we had a big car show. I was getting the car ready Saturday, but they had friends over, so they didn't help and they didn't go to show with me because their friends hadn't left yet. After they left, Jen gave the girls their gifts. She said the younger one looked at it and ran out of the room with it.

Today we see this:

You must have been very concerned about the upcoming show to leave that kind of impression on her.

That I guess, and she loves the car shows. Sometimes she gets to hand out the trophies, sometimes I have her go up and get mine if I get called.

That's how I got a pink trophy. (it matched her dress)

Ron, you need to make it clear that winning isn't everything ;) OTOH, it's nice they take notice and understand what's important to you. I think there's a lot to be said for that.

BTW, are there a lot of Amish restaurants in FL?

It isn't????

Seriously though, I'm more worried that she thinks "prayer" grants her stuff, or the old saying "Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers"

There is an Amish section in Sarasota, that has 2 fantastic restaurants 1.5 blocks from each other. This one was Man v Food approved and listed on his 101 greatest places to eat. Now I gotta try the other place. :D

Not much to add here after all the other posts but, that young lady has a heart that will serve her well in the years ahead.

Im not trying to make a religious statement or down play religion.

My take on prayers working (not in the case of her praying that you win a trophy) is that when you pray about things it keeps them fresh in your mind (read: Sights) the old saying goes "If you aim at nothing, you will hit it every time"

All that to say that I think prayers work when you want to achieve something because it keeps you focused on your goal, not necessarily that some magical guy in the sky gives them to you or not. Prayer can be a good thing and doesn't have to be a religious thing.
