I'm new to this forum but I've been searching around to try and find the best way to detail the paint on my cobra. So I have a few questions.

Can I use a buffer or any type of machine to apply and take off waxes/polishes?

I'm going to clay bar it first and plan on useing clay magic is that good?

Poorboys products are they good to use? If so which ones do I need to take out light swirls, and then polish and wax?

Any other tips would be greatly appeciated, this car is my baby and I want it to look good. I've tried NXT and Gold class and have not been pleased with the results.

Question: I'm new to this forum but I've been searching around to try and find the best way to detail the paint on my cobra. So I have a few questions.

Answer:...Hi Will...first Welcome to Detail City...second there is no "Best" way. It's a try and learn type of business. Everyones taste is different and you will see after a while as most of us agree on procedure, the products may vary.

Question:...Can I use a buffer or any type of machine to apply and take off waxes/polishes?

On a black cobra, i would just use any machine ...cheap ones come with cheap pads or pad covers, you'd be best off getting a better machine, like a pc with good pads...
part two...the machines are for applying not removing products

Question:....I'm going to clay bar it first and plan on useing clay magic is that good?

Answer: .....yes they are ok..just get the fine ones

Question:....Poorboys products are they good to use?

Answer:....of course..what else would you expect me to say:D

Question:.....If so which ones do I need to take out light swirls, and then polish and wax?

Answer:......it depends on how bad the swirls are...I'd try either SSR2 or 2.5 then PwC and EX on black

Question:...Any other tips would be greatly appeciated, this car is my baby and I want it to look good. I've tried NXT and Gold class and have not been pleased with the results.

Answer: take your time and continue to ask questions...even when you are doing the detailing:bigups

a pc is a porter cable dual action polisher..it can be baught at Lowes, Home Depot, premiumautocare, coastaltools,

yes those are the correct steps...

PwC is Polish w/ Carnauba

PC is short for "Porter Cable 7424 Random Orbital Polisher. You can get one at www.premiumautocare.com and Dwayne can fit you with the pads you need to get started. As for the Poorboys products...they ROCK. And you got the order of application right on the money. That's a good system there. Take care of that Cobra, I'm a ford lover too!

Step one .... give me your car :) Very nice car.... post up some pics when you can get a chance!

Welcome to DC you have come to the right place!

Poorboy has pointed you in the right direction! I have become a huge fan of the PBs line up very quickly! All of the products will help you acceive excelent results and the best part ...is the $$$ just like the slogan says! not a lot of money but what a shine

If your only going to be detailing the Cobra you don't "Really" need a PC unless its in bad shape. (Just don't take a rotary to the paint) I made that mistake w/ my 00 GT convertible :( but I managed to get it all repaired without too much work.

if you read through the treads you will learn the different products ect. don't be afraid to ask questions ... everyone here is more than willing to lend a hand.

Will, :welcome
All I can suggest is take your time!!!
Read the threads, ask questions.
I thought is all about products, the great people here have shown me it's technique.
As for Poorboy's products...Great stuff, you won't be dissapointed w/ the results :bigups
Oh yeah...Take pictures, have fun with it

Good luck,
"J"
