Hello everyone,

i am not infact polishing my car but rather my snowmobile.

I am polishing the heat sheild for the exhaust pipe, and have ended up with these weird squigly lines that i can't get rid of.

here lies the squiglies

and here is a before and after of one of the parts plus the stuff i'm using to polish

How can i get rid of those little lines? i was wetsanding with 600 and then 800, then doing a coat of the autosol, then a coat of the mothers.

any ideas ?

Looks to me like an imperfection in the aluminum. It looks deeper than the sanding scratches, but hard to tell for sure.

You could sand the imperfection smooth if there is enough material. I can't tell if its an imperfection from the pic though. You may want to try green scotchbrite pads instead of the 600. I'd try Flitz after that to get rid of the lines. The flitz might make it a bit too blingy though.

forgive my "noobiness" but i don't even know what flitz is ?? or where i can get it ?

i wetsanded at 320 and the lines "seem" to be coming out i'll keep going with finer grades and see how it comes out.

Yes keep going with finer paper I use down to 2000 grit ....

Flitz is a metal polish I picked it up at a motorcycle(harley) shop )
