How to deal with an interior destroyed by Armor All?

Hi all, have tried searching but to no avail. I'm sure this is a very common problem... how do you deal with a dash that's been subjected to silicon-based protectants that have left a glossy shine like Armor All? My car is used, and the original owner was a fan.

Is there any way of restoring the original factory matte finish?

Would appreciate any help, TIA...

Armor all is a water based product.

Try washing the t6he dash with a light soap and water solution appplied to an older microfiber towel, the dry the area with another one.

I would follow up with Meguiar's interior quick detailer.

A product with alcohol in it should help get rid of the silcone on the dash. Try window cleaner first. Rubbing alcohol might be a last resort as it could dry out the vinyl.

I would think it would wash off with typical interior type cleaners e.g. APC 10:1, Woolite 6:1, etc.

Then just apply any matte finish product like PB's NL, Megs #40, 303 Aerospace, etc.

APC has definitely worked for me in the past in this situation (I typically use Meguiar's APC). This is a great suggestion. I've also used Meguiar's Quick Interior Detailer for the same purpose with great sucess. Personally, I've never been a big fan of cleaning with Woolite, but I know it's worked for people.

Used it today on an '05 Ford F-150 that had been *cough* detailed *cough* prior to sale. They didn't even bother cleaning the vinyl and leather, they just soaked it in what appeared to be baby oil. Really shiny interior that was still dirty.

I'll second what DaGonz said, Armor All is water based and really isn't that shiny anymore. However, I prefer to use Optimum Protectant Plus or for no shine at all, Meguiars Interior QD.

I use megs APC cut 10:1 on my dash prior to putting #40 on it. You can tell the APC takes everything off as the plastic looks dull after wiping it back off.

Perfect Auto Finish Dressing (perfectautofinish.com) is a excellent vinyl/rubber protectant that is water based & lasts. Found it by chance on the net & wasn't disappointed.

Since Armor All has a silicone-free formula, it looks like the original owner of your car was a fan of some other product.
