How to clean grubby harness?

I bought a Schroth harness from a former Mini owner. It is great condition, but looks as if it was regularly handled with greasy hands and stored on the floor of the garage! What is the best way to clean it? I was thinking of agitating it in a 5 gallon bucket with warm water & laundry detergent and letting it soak overnight. Anybody have any other ideas? It has too many metal parts to wash it in the washing machine.

Try Woolite. Some times an APC will work but there are so many out there with different levels of harshness. I'd mix up some Woolite, use a soft brush to agitate the harness and use a dry towel to dab the harness dry and suck out some of the grime.



I would not let it soak over night. if you let it soak that long the dirt could get soaked further into the material. You'll want to use a towel to soak the cleaner and grime out.
