Hey guys,

I want to do a good job on my miata tmw its paint is in decent shape got some swirls. Also it was clayed just last week, and I put a quick coat of polish and wax on top. How should I go about this tommorow I have the following things to my disposal

1. Lots of terry and MF towels

2. Orbital buffer

3. Meg car wash

4. Meg Clay bar

5. Meg scratch X

6. Meg consumer polish 2

7. Meg prof line: Glaze #7 I think

8. Meg gold class wax

9. Meg cleaner wax

10. Meg NXT wax

11. Meg prof #26: High tech yellow wax I am pretty sure

12. Meg tire cleaner

I want to get a gleaming wet look out of it, I tried last week and all the product was hard to remove.....

thanks for the advice

My observations:

Meg's cleaner wax will remove whatever is put on before it. Meg's NXT has cleaners in it that will do the same. So, don't use them on top of other waxes, polishes, and glazes, as this is fruitless. Cleaner wax is really intended as a one-step processes, so I don't think it was intended to be put on top of either the polish or the glaze.

Otherwise, the order you have things in is the order in which I would use them, if necessary. For example, scratch X might not be necessary. Having said that, I would remove Gold Class wax and the cleaner wax in favor or either NXT or #26 (or NXT topped with #26). NXT has synthetic sealants in it that should last longer. #26 is pretty much pure wax and probably won't last as long. However, I have been very happy with the look of #26 (and I haven't tried NXT).

You should be able to cut this process down to fewer steps. For example, you might consider eliminating the glaze. Its marginal benefit after the polish might be small. As I've already said, eliminate all but one wax. Again, you could use NXT, then #26 -- but using one without the other would be fine. NXT should last longer, meaning you might have to renew the #25 after 1-2 months.

The products should have been quite easy to remove if you had just clayed the finish. My guess is that you applied the products too thick, and that's why they were difficult to remove.

I would use a polish first (Meg's Step 2, since that's the only one you have), then NXT. Then I'd wait a day, wash the car again, and apply #26.

Be sure to post pictures of whatever process you decide on. I love seeing pics of shiny Miatas!

Can I do the following:

wash

#7 glaze

#26

so #7 instead of the meg consumer polish which I dont like...also is there a good polish that I can get over the counter that will allow me to remove minor swirls and stuff with the buffer. As I hate doing the whole car with scratch X by hand.

thanks guys

#7 would work. It would fill in the swirls rather than remove them, but that's up to you which way you'd prefer.

The process you listed above should look very nice.

You can find the 3M Perfect-It polishes at some local stores like CarQuest. You can also look into Meguiars #80 Speed Glaze or Meguiars #83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish.

Get #80 first. If that won't remove the swirls, go out and get some #83. You'll probably need #80 to remove haze left behind by #83, so it won't be a waste of money if the #80 can't handle the swirls.
