How often do YOU wax your car?

Don't wax anymore I use coating like Opti-Coat or Cquartz and then top when ever the mood strikes even though the "topper" will be short lived. Tend to do this for "shows" and drives. I am not capable of leaving car alone for very long.

With Opti-Coat on my car, I don't have to at all. But occasionally I'll test a wax out on my own car. Used Mitchell & King Rannoch Wax on it a few times...

My Tacoma is absolutely abused. My efforts and heart go into my client's projects. I just don't have it in me to do it for myself.

I am of the opinion that contact with the paint should be avoided where possible. I therefore try to do this as little as possible, as so have moved away from waxes to sealants - currently using Menzerna Powerlock and only need to re-apply twice per year.

I will be trying out some coatings soon, however to date, these have not been available locally over here in South Africa, and the cost of importing is exorbitant when you combine the weak exchange rate and hi shipping costs / duties etc.

On my 2 DD I currently use Durgaloss 501 or 105 or Collonite 845 every 5 months and use D156 or DG Aquawax on every other wash. My Shelby gets nuba waxes and glazes about 2-3 times a year.

I am going to switch to Opticoat and Sonax PNS and BSD to boost Opticoat every so often.

I'd love to have the time to wax/seal my car every time I washed it, but don't. I make it a point to atleast give a good QD to make the paint feel slick.

I think back to how I used to wax quite frequently and I simply  about it.  And yeah, QDing after every wash can really help LSPs hang on....sacrificial layer and all that.

The frequency for me really depends on the LSP; I'm using four different ones at present (won't count the Jag as it's still in mothballs but it gets Souveran at every wash).

UPP gets redone quite often, but it's only on the garage-queen S8 so the frequency isn't representative of anyhing IMO (e.g., drive it four-six times/year, UPP it twice).  But the point is that UPP simply doesn't stay slick IME, nor does it protect so I'm really just using the stuff up.

476S gets redone about twice a year, but it's on the limited-use '93 Audi so that doesn't really track either.  On a daily driver I refreshed it every three-four months.

M16 on a daily driver gets redone every other month or so to keep it in "just waxed" condition, but I can sometimes stretch that another month.

The FK1000P x 2-3 seldom needs redone *annually* even on daily drivers.  It lasts even better for me than KSG X 6 did, by a pretty wide margin.  Simply incredible how the stuff lasts for me (and how it apparently does *not* last that well for others).

In all these cases I redo as soon as that "just waxed" effect starts to diminish, long before the beading goes flat or the surface loses its slickness to a significant extent.  I honestly can't remember the last time one of our vehicles seemed like it really *needed* waxing.

I would like to do it more often myself. As stated above, with work, wife, house, etc....it seems like I have no time to do my cars as much as I would like to. If I get it done twice a year now, I am lucky. I am hoping that the Hydro Seal helps to ease the pain of not being able to do it as much as I would like to. I just applied it, and I know that Accum is interested on the results, so I will post more after I get some time under it to see how it holds up.

I'm waxing Accumulatorette's A8 a bit more frequently than I used to, just a quickie with OCW.  I'd waxed it with my old (pre-VOC) 3M Showcar Paste Wax and while I did like its look better than the M16 it wasn't all that long-lasting.

Still hardly ever wax the other stuff...oughta just do everything (except the '93 Audi) with FK1000P, just might do that.

With my Jeep I just quit waxing all together. Just using OCW after every wash as a drying aide.

I question whether OCW, used by itself, will provide optimal protection against etching.  No problems when I used it (alone) on freshly-painted panels, but still....

As did I!!! But at the one year mark my paint looks better than the Opticoated Jetta. I still need to update that thread....

Huh, well OK then! :)

BTW, did you ever try out that Eastwood rust-stuff on the Jeep?  I've been nervously waiting to hear whether my recommendation was a waste of your money...

When I use to wax every month and a half or so. Now I use sealants on two of our vehicles but on my wife's new car Opti Coat 2.0.
