How often can I claybar?

Sorry a noob question from me.

How often can I claybar my ride? Would frequent claybaring (say every month) strip top layer of clear coat? Thanks!

Well, you can clay as often as you want to. However, you should only need to clay around twice a year. Remember, if you clay you'll remove any protection that you've put on your paint. I've read of people spot claying extremely lightly and managing to preserve the LSP - not something I've tried though. Claying will not remove any clearcoat.

Thanks for the tip Phil. So am I right to say I can claybar whenever I can feel surface unevenness?

Once you have given your vehicle a complete claying you'll be able to "spot" clay for some time before having to do the entire car again. I change LSPs every 8-10 weeks and spot clay whenever I do this.

Frequency will depend on where you drive your car. If there are foundry's , factories and any metal trading joints, you may need to clay due to the industrial fallout that gets on there

claying won't remove klasse SG but may strip standard polymer ones like meg's #20 etc.

Don't know how it goes with super polymers and ceramics.
