How much product to apply to pad?

I hope you don't mean on the *same* white pad??
Anyway, I usually start off with a swirl or two of product on the pad. Some like to do an X. Regardless, put the product on the pad, and rub it in a little with your finger, and work your first area on a slow speed like 3 or so. This is just to prime the pad. Once the pad is primed, and you are able to actually work the product on a higher speed without it disappearing on you, you won't need anywhere near as much on the pad each time. A few dabs will do. Just all depends on how long you want to work each area.

No, not at all. It will only take one or two large X's to prime the pad. After that, a small swirl will do. Here's the issue. You want to use enough product so that you can run the PC on speeds 5 or 6 for enough time to actually do the required paint correction. If it dries up too fast on you, you are either working too large of an area or not using enough product. On the other hand, if you find that it is taking forever to break the polish down and make it disappear, then you are using too much. It doesn't take much to prime a pad, and it definitely doesn't take much to polish the whole car. Most people tend to always use too much product.

Yep, use that much initially to prime the pad, and then 25%-50% of that there after.
Like I said, just adjust the amount of product to how much working time you want.
