The next time you hear a politician use the
Word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about
Whether you want the 'politicians' spending
YOUR tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,
But one advertising agency did a good job of
Putting that figure into some perspective in
One of it's releases.

At the rate our government
Is spending it.

But alas, not the complete answer when considering what I believe to be the intent of the OP's question (that is dollars and cents). In one billion dollars there are 11 zeros when you consider the 2 zeros after the decimal. :D
 
I think some of the comparisons are a stretch. More Americans today enjoy more than they did even 20 years ago.
 
I watched a documentary the other day. The point they were trying to drive home was that my generation (40 something) was the first generation that as a whole was not expected to do better, all things being relative to their parents. It causes me concern for my children.

Without a doubt with globalization, many people on this planet competes with others. Those in more mature countries tend to suffer compared to those in less mature. The American standard of living is dropping and the next generations will not likely earn as much or enjoy the same benefits.

So i seen one part in there and i guess the jist of it is people are upset or you just want to point out a senator wants to spend 250 billion dollars on a rebuilding a american city. 1 word, Iraq! Maybe instead of bringing attention to a proposed budget to rebuild a great city they/you should bring attention to the hundreds of billions of dollars already spent on a foriegn country!!!!

What this world REALLY needs is a good plague that cuts the global population in half b wiping out all the stupid people and the useless politicians.
