How many use wax/sealant on windows?

I have used a glaze on the side & back windows (outside only) with pretty decent results. I noticed that the windows don't seem to get as dirty as quickly as they normally would. I don't usually make this a regular practice or anything, but I think it has beneficial properties to an extent.

I have used both Z8 and Adams BSG and have liked the results. The Z8 seems to last a little longer than most of the other stuff I have tried.

ive used BSG over the side tinted windows and they add a lot of color and shine to tinted windows. but it does not last longer than the first wash.

right now im using ocw on my windows and i could not be happier. awesome looks and durabilty.

as for the windshield i dont use anything other than clay, vinegar/water, and alcohal wipe down every couple of months.

What I was thinking of was your LSP when you are waxing/sealing your vehicle.
I haven't been doing it, but given the way the dirt washes off the paint so easily, it seemed like doing the windows would be a good idea.

One reason I haven't done it in the past is the white residue that so many products would leave on black trim. That doesn't seem to be a problem with the products I now use.

I use a sealant fk1 #2180 on ALL my windows. IT does a great job repelling the water for a long time. It is pretty slick so when im driving the beads will slide off.

OCW on all my windows and windscreen (so far no chaterring of the wipers, touchwood) :shifty:

Mothers Cleaner Wax and Collinite 870 Fleetwax ( Collinites Cleaner Wax). I use theses on all the windows except the windshield. It cleans and protects in one step. No staining of trim and makes washing a breeze.

i know chee states he hasnt had any screeching of the wipers but anyone else get this when using a lsp on the windshield.

I have always put an lsp on my windshield. I have never had any screetching.

I use Vanilla Moose or AIO. Both work well, but I think I prefer VM on the side windows and AIO on the windshield and back glass.

The number of you that use it on your windshield surprises me.
The possibility of streaking was always a concern of mine so I always avoided anything on the windshield other than a cleaner.
It evidently isn't a problem for those of you that use it on the windshield.

The wiper chatter is something I have heard about, but can't say that I actually know anyone that has experienced it.

As a sealant user on the windshield I havnt had any trouble like I said as far as window chatter, I have year old wipers, but I will treat them with mothers back to black or a similiar product every couple months, That may have something to do with it?

I wouldn't use a wax on the windshield for sure. Waxes are greasy and oily and that is not something I want distorting my vision when I need to see. I wouldn't necessarily use a sealant either because the polymers are designed to alter reflections and that may affect visibility as well. I'll just stick with products that are designed to be used on glass. I just don't see any benefit to using a wax when RainX and Aquapel are designed to be used on glass without messing with my vision.

Have you used these products?
If so, did you feel they were beneficial?
It seems like I remember some less than satisfactory results from the use of RainX. I don't remember now where I heard this nor what the complaints were. Also, I have no idea if the product was used correctly.
A lot of unhappy users of various products don't use the products according to the manufacturers instructions, then blame the product for their poor results.

I've been using RainX for about 10 years now. I love it. The only downside is that rumor has it that it will decrease the lifespan of your wiper blades. I can kind of see how that happens due to the ingredients of the product anyway, but who really cares? I change my wiper blades every other year anyway, so if is decreasing their life then it isn't noticable by me. Aquapel doesn't have the same reputation of shortening your wiper life span, but it is a little harder to come by and it much more expensive. Most detail shops charge $20 bucks for one application. It lasts longer than RainX, but for $5 I can get enough RainX to last on both my cars for a year. Aquapel isn't so much better than RainX that I find it to be worth paying that kind of difference per year. You can find Aquapel on ebay for usually about $5 bucks per application, but that is still too much money for not enough difference in my book. The would be worth comparing side by side though. My stand is that they are both excellent products that are worth using. Once you use either RainX or Aquapel then you will never drive your car without a glass treatment like that ever again. Personally I think your insurance rates should be adjusted if you are using this kind of thing on your glass. It makes that much difference in bad weather.

I have used Zaino Z2PRO and all my windows with no problems at all but I guess sometimes if its a light rain I do get some wiper chatter but it only happens when its a light rain or maybe I need new wipper blades because the .wiper chatter just started they are about 2 years old. :drool With the zaino it works like rain x except it lasts a long time. maybe 4-6 mo. :gathering

I use either AIO or VM on all my glass (windshield included).

I see no difference betwen apply RainX or using what I use, they all seem to serve the same purpose.

P.S.
I have not experienced any chattering of my wipers with the use of either VM or AIO

Happy Holidays
