How many pads do you use per vehicle?

when using a rotary polisher, how many pads do you go through for each step.

Im about to order 2 polishing/light cutting pads and I want to know if that is enough for a whole vehicle.

If the polish breaks down well enough, I usually go through about 4-5... depends on the condition paint too. I've also washed them in mid-polish, as well so if you don't want to spend loads of money on pads now, that's the way to go. I've never had issues with it.

I use one for each side, 1 for the hood and roof, and one for the trunk, back bumper and front. This is on a GTI, so use about 4 pads. So 4 pads / product and or pass.

On a full-out detail I will use about 15-20 PFW pads with M105, 4-5 white pads, 3-4 black pads/3-4 blue pads.

Keep in mind that this is dealing with a car in really rough shape. I would get a lot of white pads. They have been the most versatile for me.

Aggressive polishing 4-8 pads, it depends on the size of the vehicle and how many different products I used. I won't compound a whole car for the RIDS on the hood:chuckle:

For final polishing(gloss only) I can get by with 1 pad, but usually use 2.

Excuse the noob question.

But i am about to order a PC and i'm curious......if only using one product at a time, why wouldn't you be albe to use 1 pad for the entire vehicle?

As if you were waxing by hand, you don't change applicators.........why do you need to change pads mid way through the car?

I use way too few out of lazyness, but using clean pads really makes the polish work faster. I guess it really depends on the product, some stuff stays in the pad while other polishes leave dust.
