how many pads and towels should a detailer have on hand?

I've seen posts in here showing how many pads it took to get through a particularly difficult detail. If they did not have more than one of each pad on hand, they would have been stuck.

So, how many of each (wool, cut foam, polish foam, wax) pad should you have on hand at the beginning of a detail?

How many MF towels?

Also, as I understand it the pads:

wool = heavy cutting

yellow = compounding

white = polishing

black = wax/sealant

green = ?

Please correct me where I'm wrong.

Thanks in advance!

differant brands of pads come in differant colors...which ones did you plan to buy?

as for MF towels you can never have enough..maybe 8-10 minimum? then have some cheapies for wheels etc .remember you need to have enough to cover you wheil the others are being washed

I have the edge pads... which are double sided.. so i bring one cutting ,one light cutting, two polishing, and one finishing. If I need to do some heavy work i bring out the wool cutting pad and a wool blend polishing pad.

so 10 for normal and 14 for extremes

I did the poorboy's towels.. but I got to touch them first so it was a no brainer..
