How many microfibers do you use?

I have noticed that I fill up a 16"x16" Pakshak ultra smooth and or ultra plush towel pretty quickly. Do you have the same issues, or non-issue?

On an average detail, I go through the following:

2 ultra soft waffle weaves - 25"X36"

2 window waffle weaves 16"x16"

6 ultra smooth - polish removal 16"x16"

6 ultra plush - wax removal 16"x16"

4 ultra fine - final buffing / Z-8 16"x16"

6 costco yellow "utility" microfiber

26 towels on average + pads + applicators. Seems excessive, or not?

The reason I change the towels is that I see product still left on the car smearing around.

2 Waffle Weaves

10-15 various buffing/waxing microfibers

10 misc MF's for glass, wheels, etc.

1 tire swipe applicator

2 or so wax applicator depending if I use an applicator or my hands.

Do you fold your towels into quarters, using a different quarter when the first gets "full"?

What size vehicle? Doesn't sound too excessive to me.

6 towel to remove wax?

each towel has 8 usable sides (if folded to 1/4)

so 6x8 = 48 sides? what are you buffing a lorry?

In my miata I use one or two mf (I know it is a small car but 2 mf for me is more than enough)

the same goes for polish...

I fold them into quarters. All vehicles are within 1 or 2 towels of each other. I've just never seen anyone else use microfiber towels. I don't know if they are using 2 or 200 per car, maybe I was doing something wrong or the towels were end of life.

The detail shops I have seen pick them up off of the shop floor or they are using old cut up bath towels.

Just trying to properly calculate a cost analysis.

Yesterday on my personal Jeep I used that number of towels. They all don't have 8 usable sides, most have 2 different sides, a plush and a flat.

Plus if you drop one or see it get dirty, its useless.

It also depends on what you view as ready to deliver.

I may look at some work and say it's not complete. Some may look at mine and say the same.

I know what I am looking for when removing polish, wax, and QD. If I see any haze, pattern, or reflection out of the norm, I pick up a new towel and wipe until its gone.

On a full detail I would say I dont use more than 15 towels total.

1-2 towels per step(IE, clay, cleaner, polish, wax), two towels for windows(Inside out), few for different parts on the inside, few for tires, engine, and underbody.. Maybe a couple more for misc things.
