How many applicators/towels needed ?

Hey gang,

I have a 2003 Acura TL Type S (http://www.angelfire.com/electronic2/tls/index.html). It's only

been washed twice with Mother's Gold wash since I got it in Nov of 2002.

I planning on doing the Zaino system for the first time (Feel like I'm studying for an exam with all of the reading,...hehe).

My order plan so far:

ZFX, Z2, Z5, Z6, Z7 and 5 their applicators.

I plan on getting the Pinnacle PolyClay kit since it sounds like the Zaino bars are not as flexible/bendable.

How many applicators are needed to do a midsize car ? Is 5 enough ?

How many towels are needed/recommended for removal ? What kind ?

Currently I only have (I plan to add much much more):

2 100% Fieldcrest towels (plan to use to buff out the Zaino, but I think I'll need more or different).

Griot's Handwash mitt with liner (lifesaver during this winter in NY).

Griot's Microfiber drying towel (I love it, but may have to try the big blue).

Griot's Short handle boar's hair wheel brush. (Sweeet, use to use a nylon one on my old car).

Eagle One Wet Tire Shine and tire swipes (very satisfied so far)

I also have a 10 year old Sears 9" ROB that I don't plan on using because I'm reading it'll waste the Zaino.

Any recommendations ? If there's something I'm forgetting, please tell me.

TIA

btw: this forum rocks !! I'm aspiring to be that guy on the block that everyone refers to as

"touched in the head". The garage's that some of you have out there are amazing to say the least. What do you guyz do for a living that you can afford such wonderful toyz ?!?!

:shocked

For wash mitts, I usually use 3: one for the "topsides" of the paint, one for the lower portions, and one for the wheels.

I use an electric leaf blower to dry the car, and then usually 2 fieldcrest towels.

To apply Zaino - I use one foam pad (I find these work better than cotton - easier to use and I get a thinner coat - which is much, much better with Zaino). To remove I use another fieldcrest towel. If I find that the applicator is getting some dirt on it(it shouldn't, but it happens) - then I turn it over and use the other side. Some people like using a machine for Zaino application, but I have found that hand application is extraordinarily easy, especially after getting that first coat on. It glides on smooth as silk, and wipes right off.

To Z6 - I have started liking microfiber towels for this, but cotton towels work fine as well.

Thanx for the info.

Guess I'll pick up some foam applicators and MF towels from CMA.

A leaf blower really works ? I think I have an old electric one hanging around somwhere.....interesting.

Thanx again !!

I use the cheap apps from CMA, the round yellow ones..

For MF's I use pak shak, I would start with 10 or so, give him a call, PM or mail and he will tell you the "Autopia price";)

welcome to the forum ;)

Edit> I use a leaf blower on my cars, make sure it is a elec one and not Gas. :)

Thanx ! I was looking at those yellow ones.

Still looking around. I can't wait to do this. I want to take a couple of days off just to focus on the car, but I can't.

Yes, it's one of those electric blowers. Does gas .....I guess it spits something out other than air.
