How long does one have to file ins claim?

Around 3 or 4 weeks ago one of my cars some hail dings on it. I have not filed a claim yet since they is only a couple dings that are not that noticeable and being buysy with work and trying to find a reputable place to fix it. I have never had to file a comprehensive claim before so I have no idea on how the process goes. I also hate to call the ins company to ask becuase they may want me to get it taken care of soon. The thing is that this month I will be away for a couple of weeks and I do not want to drop my car off only to pick it up later. I hope to get it done later this month for sure. Will I run into any hassles filing a claim now? Does the ins company give you any sort of a deadline to get the repars done by?

I takes a couple of minutes to file a claim, so just do it. After that, it's up to you to get the damage appraised. Depending on the insurance company, they will send out an Appraiser to you (home/work). They will most likely refer you to a reputable PDR tech that will also come to you to do the repair. Because this is a Comprehensive loss, your premiums should not be affected.

Well I have already got estimates and everything since I was planning on paying for it. Since it was estimated just a little less than deductible I was going to go ahead and let ins pay it just incase anything else is discovered. So I guess all I need to do is call it in. I am just worried about them saying that I waited too long to file.
