How long does it take to wash your car?

Sometimes I feel like it takes over an hour to wash my GN. Big car too. I was each panel thoroughly and then rinse. Then I go to the next panel and do the same. I also rinse the mitt frequently. How long does it take for your guys to wash and completely dry the car?

30 - 90 min depending on how much I am doing (dressing window moldings, polishing headlights, rain-x, wheel wells etc)

two bucket wash, soak & rinse the mit after two swipes per side. Dry left over dropplets with P21S Drying Towel.

I have a GN also. It takes me about 1 - 1.5 hours. Wash with Z7 and then dry, then dry some more. Sometimes it takes a bit to get all the water spots off of that Black paint!! Then usually I'm still not happy so I'll QD it with Z6. Then of course doing the windows is always routine after washing and drying, as well as doing the tires.(Z16).great product!

Just washing & drying (no trim dressing, etc) takes me about 1 hour or so. The 850 station wagon doesn't look like a "big" car, but compared to sedans, there's alot more surface to wash - especially the roof!!

I also use the 2 bucket method, soaking & rinsing sponge between panels, and rinsing car after each section is washed. Separate sponge for below the belt-line, and of course, separate brushes, etc. for wheels, tires & wheel wells.

Just got 2 new Viking 100% Cotton Wash Mitts from DetailKing and can't wait to try them out!! :)

it can take me anywhere from an hour and a half to two hours with my blazer, since there's so much surface and so many places where left over water hides and then drips down to form water spots if you don't dry them within a certain time..

On a normal sedan-sized car, it takes me 45-1 hour.

:up

I can spend up to 3 hours on the caddy. I spend half of that washing, then I do all the windows, and then vacuumm the whole thing, even teh engine bay!

To wash and dry my car using Protect All Quick and Easy Wash (a low water, non sudsing soap so no need to rinse) takes me 20-25 minutes, including door and trunk jams and the wheels. Maybe another 15 to QD, clean the windows, and dress the tires.

BTW, I have an Accord.

hour, hour and a half just for a wash and dry, then about 30-45 to QD. But I'm getting better each time, learning shortcuts and stuff.

Takes me about 30mins to wash my truck, dry it, and clean the tires, wheels, wheel wells.

I haven't done my truck with the Protect All Quick & Easy Wash yet (product Scottwax talks about) but I have done it to a few vehicles and have to say it really works well! I think it is faster to wash with it than with a hose and water. After you are done washing you don't have water running out from everywhere.

45 to 1.5 hours.. I have a pickup with a hard tonneau.. use a boars hair brush.. covers a large area quickly and rinses easily..

anyone else use one?

also, just what is this ProtectAll stuff? never heard of it.. where do you get it and how does it work exactly?

I don't use a boar's hair brush. I had some bad experiences with brushes and wait, your the person with a lightning. I have to go cry now...

:D

I just don't use them because they are a little too expensive for my taste plus they are difficult to find. Where did you get yours?

Check this thread for the Protect All Quick and Easy Wash: http://www.autopia-carport.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=12679&highlight=quick+Easy

Try this campingworld link. Should take you right to protectall Quick & Easy Wash: http://www.campingworld.com/browse/products/index.cfm?prodID=1545&src=SRCH&tcode=37

went to your thread and read the whole thing.. then went to the link and added it to my favorites...

If I end up moving to Las Vegas, I'll drive through Salt Lake and let you take the L for a spin... does that help? just save your pennies and buy one for yourself.. at least the insurance isnt any more than a regular truck..

Thanks again

Dana

oops, my wife got me the brush from Griots Garage.. and yes it wasnt cheap..

It takes me ~20-30min to wash my car (Thunderbird SC) and another 20-30min to dry it completely. So usually in 60min I have washed, dryed and applied tyre dressing and trim dressing.

I timed myself this afternoon when I washed my car (Protect All Q & E) and to wash (including wheels and door jams and wipe down the dash and console), dry (you dry as you wash with Q & E), clean the windows, dress the tires and QD took 38 minutes.

Wouldn't you know it...a thunderstorm popped up around 9:30 pm and rained all over my nice, clean car. At least it was clean when it rained and I didn't drive it, so a quick QD should have it looking good...unless the wind kicked up a bunch of dust right before the skies opened up and it rained mud on my car.

Oh yeah---DFW area meteorologists--nice call on the forecast you morons
