How Do You Rep Someone?

What I'm asking is if someone makes an knowledgeable/interesting/you like what the person said response within a thread, you can acknowledge the statement with reputation points. It can be done within the site or at one time at least, but I cannot find the button.

Little weights at the bottom of each user name. Next to status light.

Now give me a good rep :lmfao

You click that button. Then you can add to the reputation.

what does "rep"ing someone do for them ?
what advantage does someone who gets "rep" have over someone who
has been asleep at the wheel and never been repped ?
Thanks in advance,

Well, for every point that you get then Dwayne will give you a 15% raise on your Detail City salary. :naughty (of course, 15% of nothing is still nothing, but its the thought that counts, right? :D) Its just a fun way to give props to someone for a post or advice that you found particularly helpful or interesting. It doesn't do you any good except to know that you have contributed and people appreciate it. I spread my kudos around liberally. You can leave positive or negative points, and you better believe that I leave both. :naughty

I gave you a rep for that! never noticed it before. LOL

can you check your reps to see what others said of you?

Its in your User CP. Just click that and it shows up front and center.

ok, it says i have 21 points. i can only see the last two reps though, can i see them all?

yours was funny. :hah

That should be all of them. I have been seeing the same rep points ever since we started it. I don't think many people know that they are there so they don't use them. I don't know what the value is on the feedback supplied, so I can't explain why you have two feedbacks and 21 points. I think you start out with like 10 or something.

Don't forget the excitement of collecting those little green squares as you gain reputation! They're like rank insignias! :) heh

The way it works on another vBulletin forum that I frequent, and I'm sure it's similar here, is that when you give someone reputation for a post, the amount that they get is based on the amount that you have. Thus, a new user giving someone rep might add 1 or 2 points, while a longtime user with lots of rep himself will give many more. On the other forum, I made an informative post about pressure vs. volume in compressed air tanks for paintball guns, and a couple of the moderators gave me rep for it, so I had my second little green square before I made my 5th post. :headbang :crazy

I'm just trying to suggest we give credit where it is due, but that trollish negativity isn't a good thing.

I always like to reward good threads or posts with a posotive feedback. If we are going to see who can have the most green though, we will need to slow down jngrbrdmn, norah, and charles. Only kidding!

Greg

Good thing you didn't mention me. You can't slow down the smoothness of my luxurious man mullet. :rockon Then again, my two green boxes don't really warrant slowing down, do they? ;)
