How do we deal with these idiots???

In my city, there is less people driving around at night with no headlights for they will be punished.

I wish they'd punish them in my area! I see this soooo often that I figure the police don't pay much attention.

What I'd also like to see is for someone to start cracking down on the guys who put 6 inch lift kits on their trucks but don't adjust their headlights. Then they put HIDs in them so they are even worse. I mean, I know some guys gotta get their 6 inches from somewhere, but to not angle your lights down a little bit is just being an a-hole. So much for breaking the stereotype...

I saw this yesterday on the beltway in Maryland. A guy was driving a Toyota Avalon with his wife/girlfriend in the passenger seat. It was 5:30 pm, pitch black and raining heavily. Lights off and texting away... The dash was lit up like a christmas tree but I still don't understand how neither the driver nor the passenger realized that they couldn't see a darn thing in front of them. Even if the gauges are normally backlit, the other buttons for the radio and HVAC controls typically aren't. You would think that even a mildly astute individual would realize that something wasn't quite right.

pmnewton- Isn't it great to think that those less than mildy astute individuals are piloting 2-ton missles on the same roads as the rest of us?

I was at the Audi dealer the other day when a guy brought his A8 back in complaining that his headlights were not working after he received his car back from service on a previous trip "several days ago". The Audi tech explained that they moved his headlight switch from "auto" mode to "off" when they were working on it. The tech had to explain how to turn the headlights on with the switch. Good grief are people that dumb? The guy had driven the car for several days with NO LIGHTS before he felt compelled to do something about it. IDIOT!

My pet peeve is drivers who drive around with their REAR FOG LIGHT blazing all the time looking like a brakelight. IDIOT!

Brad B- Well, Audi *did* move the headlight switch from a stalk to the dash, guess that was too simple for the twit. Funny, I woulda found it more understandable had it been a "what's the extra stalk for?" type of confusion.

As an aside, that moving the headlight switch to the dash is one of the changes I simply can't abide..just another of my numerous personal quirks.

And yeah...bad enough that people run around with their foglights on all the time without having the rear one on too
