How do I know If I have the new BF?

I just recieved my order of BlackFire yesterday and appied it.

It looks great on my black accord. And yes very very little does go along way. I only did one coat because it felt like my arms were gonna fall off after washing and polishing and putting that one coat of it on.

Anyways, I just wanted to make sure that I got the revised version of it. The color of it was a light blue. It smelled pretty good. Not too chemically. Kinda like a air freshener.

Anyone know if its the revision?

Old Blackfire tastes like Pepsi and new Blackfire tastes like Coke.

Edit: I don't have a clue as to what I am talking about:p

Here's what Properautocare.com has to say under the descripton of the Paint Protectant.

"Product Update: This formula was improved Oct. 1st, 2002. These improvements increased the slippery feel of the finish and resistance to detergent washings."

I just compared the two. Both containers are the same and labels are the same.

The color of both are the same.

When I got the new formula sample I marked new formula on the label.

Maybe email CMA and give them an invoice date and that way maybe they can let you know.

Ejant, were your bottles exactly the same? My original and GEP have a cap where you push down on one side and the other side pops up. The new bottle I got has a cap that you flip up to expose a hole. The BF shampoo I just bought also had the flip up cap.

I have bottles of the old formula (purchased in April) that had the flip up top so this alone might not be indicative of that bottle style containing the revised formula.

The caps are the same here also.

ditto, but the products are different inside

Quick test to differentiate BF1 from BF2

BF1 dries ( hazes) instantaneously when applied and produces a very small amount but noticeable residual dust. Amount applied ( thin or thick coat)will not effect buffing. Only wastesful.

BF2 requires several minutes to haze and produces zero residual dust. BF2 very sensitive to amount applied. Must be very, very thin for the easiest removal of product.

Huh. Maybe I have a really old bottle then. I got it from SonnyDaze (thanks again!) so I don't know how old it is. I'd guess maybe a year or more would be possible since he mentioned using it on a customers car a few times and how that would be about 3 months apart. And he stopped using sometime after that. Mine really isn't blue at all. It is white and quite a bit thinner than the new stuff. It's thin like Medallion or Gold Class. And it doesn't have a chemical smell (at least not an offensive chemical). It has a very faint somewhat pleasant smell that is very much like Gold Class (no conspiracies about BF = GC please! ;)). Perhaps there were minor revisions to it at some point because my old BF doesn't sound like anyone else's old BF.

How long has BF been out?
