i did my winter prep and found out that my hood and roof were covered with these small scratches! on average, they're about 3-4 inches long and follow the flow of air over the car. I'm only use 100% cotton terry towels or microfiber towels. i find it hard to believe that these were all caused by me :o I was also thinking that they might be due to snow/ice sliding off the roof and hood in the winter and leaving their calling card?

Anyway, I tried some scratch-x on them, but it didn't seem to remove them (applied scratch-x to a towel and rubbed it perpendicular to the scratch).

help?! :nixweiss

PS. ignore the lint :)

Well, if doing it by hand doesn't work then your next step will be to use a machine. Start with #9 and see how that works for ya. If you don't have a machine then try doing it by hand. #9 is rough work by hand but it has been known to work. I think you are right about the cause of the scratches. Its either that or you've been driving under some low hanging branches.

I agree with Jngrbrdman, using a PC will give much better results, (far more even), with much less effort. I have tried to polish by hand many times but I never get the same results as with a PC.
