How do I get business?

Hello everybody! I am new to the forum and relatively new to detailing. I am working on starting a business here in eastern NC, but am having a lot of trouble getting any business. I was wondering how all of you guys keep the business going with the hard economic times. I am only 17 and am going off to college in the Fall. I am trying to earn some money for next year and I thought that maybe since I am soooo obsessed with cleaning my own car that it would be fun to start a detailing business of my own. I recently got a PC and have bought a lot of stuff in terms of products (3m rubbing compound (wanted some M205 and M105), Megs #7, Mothers Back to Black, and a bunch of other stuff). My question is...How do I attract business? My prices are pretty low in comparison to what I thought one would charge for a full detail. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!! I detailed my mom's Yukon Denali, my Dad's IS350, and my gf's Celica GT. I really am inspired by the work that you all do (as I have seen from picture). :2thumbs:

Well first thing is first if no one knows of you then you will never get buisness.

Try to get your parents friends or even some of your own friends to let you do their car, they will tell their friends and so on. Word of mouth is the best advertising one can have.

Also start off small advertise for just car washing, most people do not want a full detail that's going to be big bucks from somebody they never had met start with washing and move to waxing and keep moving up the line.

Just a few things to keep in the back of your mind.

Check out your local golf course and see if they need their golf carts detailed (offer to do one for free).

At the course I work at, they want the carts clean, but they use tap (unsoftened) water to just rinse them off. Of course, the black plastic trim and polycarbonate bodies look awful with water spots, not to mention the paint scrapes, etc. A little Meg's hyperdressing and a sealant will at least shine them up, and some work with a buffer would correct the scrapes, etc.
