How did you choose the coating you offer

I've been pouring over all of the different coatings that are on the market right now and was wondering how you guys chose whatever you chose to offer your customers.  It seems like Opti Coat and Cquartz Finest are at the top of the chain as far as durability and then there's a bunch in the 1-3 year range as far as durability goes.  Reading over all the manufacturer descriptions they all start to sound the same with similar science buzzwords lol.  So how did you pick what you did, especially if it wasn't Opti or Cquartz?  Thanks

You just listed two of the best and two that I would recommend looking into. And that is all you need to know!

Also look into Modesta.

What interests me about Opti Coat, is that you can sell the

professional version of it called Opti guard, and all this with a warranty.

What is attractive about this, is that it is a lifetime warranty on new car,

and they have had zero warranty claim, except for installer error.

Sure, warranty means that the client needs to come in for check up

and maintenance, but this should not scare you, and should just

mean more dollars. If they aren't interested in keeping up their paint,

that is their fault. You already got paid, if they let the contact lapse,

then that customer made the decision.

I can not attest to X vs Y, but can only tell you about the research

that I have done, and why I have made my decision.

primer polish????  have a link bryan?  is it just for opticoat, or all coatings.  I hate IPA wipedowns.

It's a polish that preps the paint for a coating. DP makes one called Coating Prep Polish.

Anyone know how does the new Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Surface Coating compare to Opti-Coat?

DP Coating Prep - a non-abrasive polish that removes oil and etc from a paint surface  to prepare the surface for a coating- how is this different from other products (besides Autogeek marketing)  like Eraser, IPA etc ?

Is a non abrasive polish/paint cleaner that removes all traces of your old LSPs. Eraser & IPA are spray and wipe products that may or may not remove all traces of polymer sealants. I've found IPA (at dilutions recommended for paint and above) to do little to durable polymer sealants.

It's a way to ensure all your old LSPs are removed, or all your polishing oils are removed. It's also a viable option on a car that doesn't need (much) correction and is getting coated. Sure there are other ways to do it, but it's not a bad alternative if you want to be insured a surface ready for there coating product.

To the OP,

I guess it would boil down to price and research. Either way it seems you can't go wrong.

In the spring I plan on doing a coating on my wife's new car, after a detailed prepping.

At this point in my research I am leaning towards the Opti Coat. I certainly will continue to look at CQuartz. I just picked up some of their trim restorer so if I like it, just tostay with a particular brand, I may go with them. Gee...I kinda sound like a politician. LOL.

Good Luck either way.

Loved Optimum's vision and product releases. Didn't hurt that a huge portion of reputable detailers fell in love with it as well.
