How did I do? 1st time PC user

Hi, this last weekend I FINALLY got to use my new PC.

I bought the package from Autopia with the Sonus SFX pads, and used the Meguires range on them (the 3 step system) Step1 on the yellow pad, step 2 on the white and step 3 (replaced with NXT) on the blue pad.

I washed, clayed and dried the car before I started. (Should claying a car leave all those really really light scratch marks)?

No befores unfortunately as i was too excited, but the paint was in pretty good condition, (not the the PO would've noticed as the car was disgustingly dirty when i bought it), and polished up pretty good by hand.

did i do okay? any tips? should I be using different products?

many thanks!

Looks really good. How did you go about detailing the windshield post near the convertable top?

I have a friend with a Nissan Z convertable, and was wondering what to do about it...probably tape it off is my best bet.

I did that bit by hand and taped it off! :-)

Yeah, I'd done the 3 step process before by hand, but it always came out streaky, and the finish never looked that good in direct sunlight. It left what looked like very light scratches all over?!?

I've never clayed the car before though. I'm also using cheapo (5 litres for ~$10) turtlewax car shampoo......am I a bad man? ;-)

Looks good, very clear and reflective especially for a metallic finish...

Clay bar can reveal some marring that you saw, just be sure the bar is absolutely clean before starting on the car and constantly remold the clay as you are working. You wanna pick away any grit or particles that collect as well. Remember use tons of lubricant!

Clay bar can be used with car wash liquid, i tend to dilute it a bit with some distilled water though to make it last longer.

The PC will give you a lot better results than hand if used correctly, but the real secret is that you clay bar'd the car this time. In my opinion, no clay bar = no reason to detail any further. Polishing will give much better results on a clayed car.

Ahh good stuff, I was using just the soapy leftover water as a lubricant, and I didn't dry the car before claying, so it was still covered in rinse water, I take it that's a bad idea?

Thanks
