On a scale of 1-5 How abrasive is an orange pad and SSR2.5?

Should I be concerned about damaging paint or removintg too much clear? I am just not getting the results I want with the white polishing pad and 2.5, but I am afraid to go to town with the orange pad.

Is orange pad + SSR1 stronger than white pad + SSR2.5?

Thanks,

Steve

I would say the orange/2.5 would be about a 4. With the orange/SSR1 combo, you will be relying on the pad's pressure and speed to do the cutting. Are you using Sonus pads? If you have a green Sonus, it would do more than a white.

Are you using a rotary or a PC? What speed? How much pressure is being applied? Are you fully breaking down the polish?

Yes, PC, Speed 5-6 some but not a lot of pressure. Does breaking down mean dusting and little polish left on the paint, then yes, I may not be using a ton of polish though, I am not sure how much to use.

With the right light, I can still some very very minor swirls, and water spots deep in the paint.

If you use too much product, it will cake-up on the pad. If you use too little, it will go transparent to quickly (breakdown). Try using a little more pressure and a little less speed. I try to stick between 4 and 5, while using a good amount of pressure. Then as it start to disappear, lighten up the pressure and increase the speed to 5-6.
