Hot water extractor question?

I bought a second hand extractor from a guy about a month ago and I just have a quick question for you guys.

When I spary the water and it comes out like a mist towards the nozzle it's not hot. It's a heated machine and I add very hot water to give it a boost. But it seems to be luke warm at best. When you spray the mist should you be able to keep your hand there, or is it supposedto be cool. The guy said that this was because it came out in a fine mist that the water temp felt like this. To me if it's coming out cool than the "HOT" water end of the machine is not actually using heat to loosen up the grim in the carpets.

Thanks Alot

It should be TOO HOT to touch.

210 dgrees.

Odds ar ethat your sytem is old, and need a new heat exchanger, but...

run some pure white vinegar thru (HEAT ON) maybe 5 or 6 times... if that kicks out ALOT of debris, then you're in luck - maybe just the heat exchange is so clogged it won;t function.

If that is the case email me - I have a few suggestions...

You also need to remember that the hot water you pour in will not be that same temperature by the time it reaches the nozzle. Bye the time it goes thru the hose you will lose heat. If my temperature in the solution tank is 150 degrees at the nozzle it will be 125 give or take. I would get a bucket heater to get your water piping hot

Ed Hartman- I'm not so sure that the heat loss between the tank and the wand would be as much as 20oF. Most extractor will heat the water to 200oF+ and you'll lose about 10oF

Jimmy Buffit- great tip on the vinegar 'rinse' I usually run a half-gallon of distilled white vinegar thru the extractor either weekly, or after every ten fresh fills.

Vinegar, contains Acetic acid, an organic carboxylic that will help eliminate scale, mild mineral deposits etc. from clogging your extractor.
