Honda Accord Optimumized

I've seen so many good results with the Zaino waxes or "polishes," as I believe they call them. and I have to get in on it! Believe it or not, I've never tried it, so I need to know what I need to get. Is the Z-6 a QD? What do I need to get me started and hooked on the Zaino line?

I am new to the forum and have also been reading all of the raves about Zaino. I have been a true IBIZ fan for a while now. All of the diff Z products confuses me. Can somebody break them down for me???

I seem to remember a thread about a month ago that went over the different Z products. Try a search and see what comes up.

It was very good and had lots of comments from Z users.

For the most part Z6 gloss enhancer is a QD but should be used between coats of Z2, Z3 or Z5.

I suggest reading the Zaino web site a few times as well.

Sorry, one more question!! Is the Zaino Website the only place to order the stuff?

Hey Pats, here is the Zaino Bro's Website. It has some good information, but I want to sort through the sales pitches and find out what the people at this forum use.http://www.zainobros.com/

I happened to stumble across this on the web. I don't want to start a war but I know alot of people love Zaino. I have not tried it yet and have been using McGuiars on my daily and wife's car and IBIZ on the show car.

Any opinions???

IBIZ VS Zaino

There a few distributors of Z located throughout North America. I think they are listed on his site or you e-mail him and he tells you.

Pat is there more to that link?? It was a very brief summary with no real details of products, preperation or anything. DO you have a link to the original web page?

That guy sounds like a spokesman for that other stuff. He seems to have a predetermined biased in some way, or maybe Zaino just isn't very good ;)

The website doesn't have any more info on the IBIZ/Zaino comparison..Here is the site with some nice detailing articles.

Avalon Racing is my sponsor for my show car (90 300zx)

Many people have different opinions of what is important to them in the way their car looks or how much time they want to spend detailing.

Comes down to choosing waxes or polymer products: The choice is yours: There is a wealth of information in the posts here with many varying opinions.

Try both type products and do your own review.

I am a newbie to alot of this. This site is really incredible. I have learned a ton of info. I have told alot of people about it.

I wasn't trying to start a flame war or anything. Just something I found out there and thought I would post. :p

Chuck: Have you looke dinto Pinnacle Souveran wax? It's some awesome stuff and produces an awesome shine with great depth you might want to check it out.

Pat: I use IBIZ on my 65 Mustang and it works great I also used it on my 1992 300ZX, it was black with over 100k miles on it and the paint looked excellent with the help of IBIZ.

About the Pinnacle Souveirgn: I don't have that kind of money to spend on car wax. I like the results I've seen and heard about from the Zaino. How does the Zaino compare to Klasse???

Z-6 is a QD, sort of like Meguiar's Final Inspection.

I would recommend getting the following:

Z-2 (polish)
Z-5 (polish w/ swirl fillers)
Z-6 (QD)
Z-7 (Car Shampoo)
ZFX (Z-2/Z-5 cure accelerator)

Make sure your car is prepped properly before applying Zaino.

I only use Z-5 (as opposed to interchanging with Z-2) because I believe most cars can always benefit from swirl-fillers. I also prefer its thicker consistency. However, Z-2 is supposed to have a higher level of optical clarity.

Using Z-6 and/or Z-7 will do a great job of rejuvenating your Z coats.

You can use other QD's and shampoos on your Z coats. Just make sure you use Z-7 to wash and Z-6 to QD right before applying a coat (or coats) of Z.

ZFX will make applying Z easier: Shorter drying time (10 mins as opposed to 1 hr min), harder initial coat, and a quick cure time which will allow you to apply up to three coats in one session. I believe 1 'order' of ZFX is enough to mix 2 bottles of Z-2/Z-5.

If you don't plan to ever apply more than one coat a day and you don't mind waiting an hour for the coat to dry, substitute Z-1 for ZFX. Read up on the Zaino website for more info on Z-1. But I would definitely recommend getting the ZFX.

What kind of car are you going to detail, color, and condition, and what are you using now?

For starts, I would get ZFX, Z2 or Z5, Z7 car wash, and Z6 spray detailer. The Z6 and Z7 really work well with the system. With zaino the car will stay slick and glossy wash after wash.

Anyhow, those products should last you a long time. About 10 coats of polish (Z2 or Z5), and about 4-5 months of weekly washings.

As DK mentioned to pre-determine the outcome of Zaino in your case the initial condition of your paint is important. Zaino gives a great shine but because of its optical purity it also augments imperfections. Prep is REALLY important and the hardest part of the Z system. But prep is important for any protectant. The use of Z appears complex but is very simple after the prep and mastering the art of very thin coats. With the ZFX the system appears even simplier.

Go with ZFX, Z5, Z2, Z6 and Z7. The initial investment may seem a little high but these products should last a long time depending on how addicted you become and how often you QD.

Zaino is not a miracle protectant. It will not cure major flaws in your finish. It will make a well-prep'ed finish look unbelievable. :D

Though have not yet purchased the PC yet, I plan to buy one soon and will use it with FI-II to remove all the oxidation and a few small scratches on my '92 black Bimmer 325i. I have a lot to do before I use the Zaino, but once I do get it properly prepped, I want to use something that will really protect the car and make it look good. Lots to be done, first, but I can't wait to do it.

Honda Accord Optimumized with Optimum Hyper Polish/Compound

Its been a while since I posted any new details. Been busy but finally got a chance over the holidays...

Just got a shipment of products in from the US from Dr. G of Optimum Polymer Technologies including the latest Optimum Hyper Polish and Optimum Hyper Compound. As usual, the best way to test out any new products is to try it out on the softest and hardest to finish black paint...

It just so happened that he owner of the black Honda Accord which I did 9 months ago asked me to look into some issues which he was having with the interior and exterior of his car. The original post can be found here:
ProDetailing: Honda Accord - Detailer Installed Swirls and Holograms Correction

This was the state of the car when it arrrived:

The problem the owner was having was with water marks in the black paint which were impossible to remove by washing alone.

There were also some scratches on the rear boot lid.

The owner also requested that the interior be detailed, especially the leather seats.

New checkered pattern for Honda leather seats...

There were some spots on the side bolster which look like they have been touched up before and I didn't want to risk cleaning that location. The owner was informed of this when he came to pick up the car.

After steam cleaning, the seats were dressed with Optimum Protectant Plus. Compared with other leather conditioners, the OPP is very, very easy to apply with great results.

Some afters...

The new Optimum Hyper Polish and Optimum Hyper Compound.
2010_08310092.JPG

As always, the least aggressive product was tried first, the Optimum Hyper Polish with a Meguiar's polishing pad on a Makita 9227 rotary.
2010_08310093.JPG

Optimum Hyper Polish- First impressions were very good. Very little product was used as only a few of the spray bottle were required to prime the pad. The product has a nice consistency to it with very minimal splatter and absolutely no dusting. The polish has a buttery feel to it with a very long work time and was easy to remove. Good stuff.

Big improvement with the gloss and most of the water marks have been removed. Most, but not all...
2010_08310093.JPG

Time to step it up a notch with the Optimum Hyper Compound and a Meguiar's foam cutting pad.
2010_08310096.JPG

Much better...

50/50.
2010_08310102.JPG

2010_08310101.JPG

Optimum Hyper Compound- A bit thicker in consistency than the OHP and hence a little more difficult to spray but still quite impressive, combining aggressive cutting power and a decent finish. Again, minimal splatter and dusting with a long work time.

The rest of the car was completed with OHC/Rotary followed by OHP/ROB and sealed with Optimum Opti-Seal followed by Optimum Car Wax.

It started to rain halfway though the detail which allowed for some nice water beading shots...

In order to minimize the recurrence of the water marks, the owner was advised to carry out an ONR wash and to protect the paint with OCW regularly.

Thanks for looking. Comments and feedback are most welcome.
