Hit-and-Run Driver Hit the A8

Well...don't suggest to *her* that the A8 could be replaced :nervous: :grinno: She would reluctantly take my S8 if she had to, but she sure wouldn't be happy about it.

But seriously, yeah it's just a car...and I do appreciate all the positive sentiments.

And yeah#2, here's hoping that Karma is indeed a [mean female dog].

There was a lesson here, namely that one must be prepared to take literally immediate (and correct) action whenever driving; you just never know what some [individual] might do. I can't help but think that instead of merely a careless driver who turned without looking, it could have been somebody actually meaning her harm, or it could have happened on the highway at high speed. My wife has had good training and she's sure *way* above average, but it's been a while since she was through a training program and the split-second type abilities really are perishable skills.

Sheesh, sounds like all sorts of people here are getting hit! At least everybody's OK...well, I suspect that Scottwax is still a little more sore than he's letting on ;)

This sucks Accumulator! They say it comes in waves of 3's which has proven right with Scott, Yakky and now you.

What exactly has been determined damaged with the car? I think you've mentioned having Chubb before? If so, I'm sure the whole claim experience is carte blanche right?

Yeah, Chubb's adjuster went over it, Jeff at the bodyshop is satisfied that they're in agreement, so all should go smoothly. Too bad I'm stuck with the deductible, but that's how it can go with a hit-and-run. I'm having some stuff that needed done anyhow taken care of while they're working on those areas as part of the accident repair.

The only thing that's still up in the air is damage from the impact to the wheel/hub. I can feel some kind of, uhm....something that I suspect is like a compression of the wheel bearings or maybe the CV joint. They are, of course, replacing the wheel and tire, and we'll see what else needs done (Chubb is prepared for this too; again, everybody's on the same page).

We haven't even taken advantage of the loaner car as we're doing fine without it and neither one of us wants to hassle around with it at the moment.

Again, this is just another (and considerably milder) hit to a section of the car that was previously damaged, and everybody's being swell with regard to ensuring my satisfaction (hey, they fixed the more serious previous hit well enough). It's not over until it's over, and I bet I'll be able to nitpick about something, but she'll be satisfied and I'm just not worried.

Does anyone know of some camera system that is discreet and logs all of the data into some sort of disk that can be retrieved in the event of an accident or act of vandalism?

I've been looking into getting one of these, but I can only seem to find huge clunky things the size of a point and shoot camera.

When my wife was rear ended she immediately grabbed the iPhone and made a video sweep of the whole scene before they moved cars out of the traffic lane. She also just held the video on when she was talking to the other person and caught her admitting to fault, got her name, etc.

Turned out we didn't need any of it but in just a couple minutes of video you can see car placement, potential witnesses and more that you always seem to forget after the fact.

Keep your phone handy and snap away if something happens. You never know!
