Hit-and-Run Driver Hit the A8

Accumulatorette was about to make a left turn when the driver to her right decided to do the same thing...crunch...hit her front right wheel and fender, bumpercover, etc. Same stuff that got replaced when the dealership's guy got sideswiped a few years ago.

Just a low speed impact, no injury at all and my wife wasn't shaken up or anything... just disappointed that the other driver darted off into traffic too fast to get the plate. Called the PD, then me, calm as could be though disappointed that she'd missed tutoring her students and that she'll be without her car for a while (heh heh, she is kinda enjoying the Crown Vic though, and soon we'll have a rental to not worry about).

Minimal mechanical damage (I'm guessing the wheel bearings/CV joint got compressed a bit), but I did have it towed to Stoddard after driving it home just to be on the safe (and convenient) side.

Glad to hear she's okay, Accumulator! Didn't know your wife has a teaching background. Do keep us all informed about the repair's progress.

Have fun detailing your rental...you won't be able to resist it!

LOL, I have yet to see a rental that hasnt been plagued by an incurable case of swirls.

Tuff luck on the car Accum, glad nobody was hurt.

Man, sorry that happened. Hope it works out ok.

My wife was rear ended in the S4 last week. A teen driving a Mercury something. The only damage was indentations in the plastic bumper cover from the other cars license plate bolts. Not bad, but still requires a repaint. :frown:

Our rental car is a Nissan Cube. I feel like I am driving in a Kenmore washing machine. :grinno:

That sucks. I got rear ended 3 days ago. The guy hits me and we both pull over on the side of the road. He waits until I get out and go to the back of the car to check out the damage and then he darts back into traffic. I was so pissed and kind of in shock and didn't get the plates. By the time I got back in the car and tried to follow him he must have turned down a side street. If you get the plates and call the cops will they even do anything?

Sorry, it sucks getting hit, then you have a huge mess on your hands to deal with. Luckily no one was hurt and you know a good body shop.

Accumulator glad to hear the Boss "wife" is okay. I hope the A8 gets repaired the right way. Best of wishes my friend!

Thanks folks. Eh, this isn't a really big deal as that car has been through worse (never our fault I might add ;) ), it'll get through this OK too. Not like the major rear-ending of her S4, the one that prompted me to get her the A8.

Perhaps the biggest bummer is that I had *just* done one of my very infrequent corrections on it, had it looking pretty nice and, well, we all know how it's gonna be when I get it back.

And *NO* I'm not gonna do the rental. Really. I mean it :grinno: After doing the black rent-a-Suburban I kinda got that whole thing out of my system.

Yeah, if you can get the LE hooked up with the hit-and-runner they'll TCB (might not get any $ though). When the lady who hit me in the MPV fled the scene I gave them her plate/vehicle info. They tracked her down and they let me decide whether they'd charge her with leaving the scene (I said "no" as she was quite elderly and I was feeling generous). Gotta give some thought to pursuing them on your own, things might go seriously sideways; never know why they decided to flee the scene.

Sheesh, sounds like all sorts of people here are getting hit! At least everybody's OK...well, I suspect that Scottwax is still a little more sore than he's letting on ;)

Between the Jag being away (yeah...still  ), the A8 being at Stoddard (oops, it's called "Lake County Collision" now that Penske bought the dealership), and the TBSS about to be sold, I'll finally have a little garage space for a while!

Ya, all curable, was just making a funny.

And Shiny Lil Detlr was just making a funny about my tendency to do full-blown corrections on loaner/rental cars :o A habit I'm trying to break!

Some of 'em *are* incurable, and I'm sure not gonna mess up some freebie over trying to remove serious RIDS :grinno:

I hope you have it back in no time.

Heh heh...yeah...so it can sit here outgassing for ages; this is the downside to my approach to repaints :o

My wife probably misses it already, but for now I genuinely *do* like having one fewer vehicle around! The older beater-Audi needed exercise anyhow (I think she likes that car better than the Crown Vic).

Accumulator,

Glad to hear the Mrs is OK.

Hopefully Karma will come around to anyone who leaves the scene of an accident.

Jeff

Indeed, they better watch out for messing with Accumulatorette! :bolt: JK Glad she was doing just fine.
