High Tech Yellow Vs Show-It

A friend of mine is looking at buying a new wax for his car, but he wants to spend under $20 for his next bottle.

We were thinking High Tech Yellow from Meguiars and 3M Show-It Paste Wax. Which one is better as a topper after Klasse SG?

We did see this one wax called Pink Carnauba wax in a silver tin, but the generic brand name kinda made shy away from it.

Do many of the over the counter waxes have petroleum elements in them as well? What role do the other ingredients play in the wax?

I second the S100.

I have tried all three (well P21S version of the S100.)

The 3M paste wax gave nice depth but was kind of oily. The Meguiar's #26 was a decent wax with very little oilyness but lack some depth compared to the 3M (if even that, very suble deifferences), and the P21S combines the best shine and the best depth with far easier application and removal.

As far as I can tell, all carnauba-type traditional waxes, liquid or paste, have to have petroleum distillates in them and there's no getting around this.

However, based on some interesting discussion a few months back I think it's wiser to go with a PASTE wax as a Klasse topper rather than liquid because the solvents used to keep the liquid...... umm.... liquid might be harder on the Klasse. Not proven, but it makes perfect sense to me. ;)

I third the S100 wax suggestion by the way. Very easy to use. Way easier than #26 paste.

Only one shop here in Honolulu that sells S100/P21S and their shipment was gone in a day. We gotta wait another 3 weeks.

Maybe we can find some Collinite somewhere around the island. Whats the best place to look for that - a boat shop?

As an alternative to P21S / S100 I'd like to suggest Blitz wax. Although I switch form one to the other on dark colors I believe it gives a higher gloss and creates a richer black and has greater longevity. I believe it's quite similar in application / removal HOWEVER, unlike the afore mentioed 'best wax under 50 bucks' this best wax under 15 stains rubber and plastic trim without forgiveness which requires spending the time to tape before application, using your fingers in areas prone to misapplication OR applying a coating of trim dressing to your rubber and trim dressing prior to starting the application of the wax which works quite well.

As far as carnuba wax is concern your choices seem too be P21s S100 Collinite and Pinicale Soverign for sealants your choices are Zaino and Klasse these seem to be the best . There are others but everbody seems to like these

As an easy-to-find wax that lasts well and shines nice, megs #26 would seem to fit the bill. In addition, it is well below the $20 threshold in the first post.

I have and use #26 and S100 - I tend to prefer the S100 because it doesn't stain trim...

As a topper over Klasse or any sealant I use the best... American Shine Carnauba... It provides exceptional depth, its ease of application also keep me faithful to it... :up :bow
