High speed Makita 9227 question?

When I got my 9227 I received the small palstic centering piece. What is this for? I have a velcro-backing plae and Lake country pads so I am not really sure what to use this for?



Also when removing light to medium scratches will most of you use the black or yellow pad with a polish or a glaze?
 
Dude, I think you just answered your own question. Like you said, the plastic tube is a "small -centering piece". You use it to center your pad on the backing plate. Pretty useful in my opinion.



As to what product to use, that would really depend on what you consider light-medium. I would think most polishes would take care of that w/ the yellow cutting pad or white polishing pad.
