I thought that was a myth. Anyone know for sure? If so I'll switch to terry towels or MF.

Thanks,

Joe

Leather chamois will remove wax, but synthetic ones like the absorber probably won't. If you rub them across the paint it will remove some wax but a little will remain. I usually just go over the car with a MF, just blotting the wet spots. Works great :xyxthumbs .

Dragging a chamois along your paint is risky in itself. Do you really want an airtight seal being dragged across your paint? What if you pick up a little dirt from some trim? You'll drag it straight into the paint and cause some deep swirling . . . It's not worth it!

If you rinse the car well , allowing the water to sheet and use the chamois as a blotter followed by a 100% cotton towel as a final wipe the risk of marring is essentially eliminated.

About wax removal.. :nixweiss

I don't think a chamois will remove any mlre or less of your wax than any other towel that has the same friction. However I'm not big on chamois any more. They are "old school."

I recommend you read The Perfect Drying Technique and see what you think. I've tried a boatload of drying techniques and products, and I remain convinced this is the way to go. My mantra is "maximum drying with minimum rubbing".

Cheers
