Hi Temp EXPCL

While surfing the net the other night, I found a site of a company in Panama City Florida who sell Hi Temp and other interesting products and do ship internationally

So I sent them an email and they actually responded quite quickly

Anyways I saw listed on their site, Extreme Power Cut plus leveller.

Is this stronger than extreme cut leveler?

Both claim 600 grit removal.

Also if using this with strong foam and wool, would this remove too much clearcoat on previously polished cars?

I won't provide the link to site or name of company for spam reasons

Can't help with any differences/not between that and the regular H-T EC leveler, but I suggest you take the grit-rating with a grain (or a whole shaker full) of salt. The H-T EC isn't all that aggressive IMO, I sometimes wish it were considerable more so. So if I had to guess, something a bit stronger would be pretty safe.

That is htec, hi temp changes the label name often but it's the same product.

Yeah, the last time I ordered HTEC from topoftheline, it came with the name on it from the OP's post.

They do the name changing all the time with their medium cut polish, too. Seems like they keep changing between .357 Magnum and Medium Cut.

Don't you mean the *heavy* cut = 357  My bottle says 357 but IIRC it's supposed to be the Heavy Cut.

I've found them! Sent a message - hopefully they answer quickly.

Today I noticed how low I'm running on my HTEC. BTW I used it on an Accord with a Menzerna orange pad and my Bosch short throw high speed DA on speed 6 and it corrected really good and LSP-ready.

UPDATE

After the HTEC Plus sitting on the shelf for months without much use (using menzerna big time), a friend came around with a severly neglected 1997 VT Commodore

So out came the HTEC as it didn't matter if we burnt the paint

After trying PG with wool to no avail, the ultimate combo did the job

HTEC and Edge black wool. Spread at 600, straight to 1700 for 30 seconds then back to 1000

All marks totally gone and just a few swirls from the wool

I really love the Edge wool

We finished off with IP and 106 and Driven quick spray at 1000 rpm

So I got excited to keep playing with the product

A few days later a green original paint Rover RV8 came in with some very nasty scratches

The Edge yellow and HTEC for 40 seconds wiped them all out

So this is my now go to leveler and I'm loving it

I'm just about to order some HT Smooth cut and the CCS euro hand pads from Auto Pro detail products tomorrow

They are terrific people to deal with

SVR- Ah, thanks for that. I'll have to try the Edge wool/HT-EC next time I'm working on the M3.

Heh heh, with all the fuss about M105 these days the EC hasn't been getting much attention but I'm not about to just let it sit on the shelf while I try every new product in town ;)

Yeah... that's *my* job. :D

i have used HTEC with an orange pad on a rotary, then 83 on a orange pad with PC on two different sections...the PC side was more clear and removed more defects...both worked unltil wet cleared, then wiped off...this was on a chrystler coupe...I was shocked...I was only doing a two step, so I didnt want to bring out the wool on it...any thoughts?

Well some people may not like it and I respect their opinions but it's great to have around as it blows away powergloss most of the time

SVR posting about HTEC made me remember that I have a bunch of it gathering dust on my shelf. Since I finally got the SUV back from the shop (it's been in to get fixed four times now for the same problem), I decided to start working on the paint correction. So I pulled out the HTEC, filled up a four ounce bottle to about the three ounce point, then added about a half ouce of Optimum Polish. Wow, I forgot how good HTEC is. It got out some very heavy defects, and finished down *much* better than I remembered. This was with a purple foamed wool pad.

HTEC really is a great product. Especially when you add a bit of either OP or OC to extend the working time. Without the OP or OC, it just seems to dry too fast, so you can't really break it down/work it as much as you'd like. It leaves a bad compounding haze. But add in the OP or OC and you can break it down to darn near LSP ready.

Tomorrow comes the first use of M105.. Can't wait! :D

I also love it and use it for getting rid of imperfections, but using #105 yesterday.....

I think I will not order it anymore. I still need to do more comparo but it looks like 105 beats it in cut and look as well.

Thanks for that information superbee, now I have a reason to use the OC as I really don't like it on it's own

Gives a bright rather than dark finish on dark cars

It's a shame that people disagree on product choices, I just plain don't like using meguiars as I like to give my money to manufacturers and family owned businesses (distributors or MFGR's) who give better service. Share the money around

megs has never impressed me

Like where you shop for instance

I go to foodland cause their SA owned and cheaper and I don't want coles or woolworths to have a 100 % market share

But might the EC not be a better choice for repeated use? I've read enough about M105 to believe it's great stuff, but I dunno if it'd want to use something that aggressive all that often

Not an :argue I just think that the products might fill different niches..I think of the M105 as a replacement for my 3M Extra Cut RC. I have to catch myself now and then as I try to use the HT EC for jobs where it's simply not aggressive enough; not the product's fault, it's *my* fault.
