hi! i found this site through someones word at www.preludeonline.com. im the car care moderator there and obviously i drive a prelude. im a huge freak in car detailing but im always interested in learning more. im a huge Meguiars fan but im slowly broadening my horizon with other products and brands. here are my questions and hope everyone will give some input.:up

1- what car wash soap do u use?
2- what do u use to surface prep the paint?
3- what wax/sealant/protectant do u use?
4- what do u use to maintain the cars appearance in between times of waxing?

5- any other products u did not mention above that u absolutely love or recommend above all else?

im really interested in what most use here so i get an over all idea whats the best stuff out there. i also want to find out what each of u think is the best "combo" of products to use when completely detailing the cars paint. i see that most here love zaino... im just about to get into this product after i order it.

thanks again guys!:D

Welcome to the forum! For a car wash, I like Meguiar's Gold Class car wash because it works pretty well at a very affordable price if you buy in gallon sized containers. For surface prep, I like to use 3m's Finesse-It to remove swirl marks, Klasse All-in-one polymer sealant to throughly cleanse the paint, and Mother's clay to pull out any contaminates. Depending on cars, I use Blitz or Pinnacle Paste Glaz for wax, and Zaino Z-1, Z-2 or Klasse AIO/Sealant Glaz for sealants.

Have fun!

Welcome!

As you can read from my signature, I'm an Eimann Fabrik fanatic. Their PowerWash+ is wonderful stuff. Strong without being harsh. It's got a pleasant scent (very subtle). And it's got tons of suds that last and great lubricity.

The High Intensity is a great all around cleaner. I use it primarily for my wheels & tires, but have found that it works well around the house and such.

As for my main protection, I am a die-hard Klasse user. Easy to use, easy to keep up, and give a great shine. Some users here add a Blitz wax topper for additional warmth.

My car was new so I did not need to prep the paint when I started my regimine, but will probably go with either CMA's Pinnacle Clay kit or Griot's Polyclay kit. Both seem to be well liked along with Mother's.

For in between, I use Eimann Fabrik's Clear Pearl which has a touch of carnauba in it. Great stuff. I also use Meguiar's Quick Detail spray, especially for removing bugs. It's really good for that.

As far as washing, I have both a sheepskin mitt and a micro fiber mitt. The only towels that touch my paint are micro fiber (other than an absorber for drying).

I like the Zaino stuff, use it all the time. I used to use the Mequiar's line, it's good also - just different chemistry. Klasse is highly regarded and well recommened also. Never used it myself.

1. Z7. Also, you can use any good quality car shampoo. There are quite a few endorsed here. Haven't tried them all, but I'm sure that they work fine. I choose to pay for it, it's my decision.

2. Depends on how bad the paint is. 3M FI is good, claying always recommened. Go mildest to most aggressive, then Z5 even if you want. Z5 won't remove any swirls really, just make them less noticeable.

3. Z. I love it.

4. Hard to pin this one down. I don't like to QD when the car is dirty or even kind of dusty. It's up to you. You can use any good QD for this - even on Z or Klasse. I would be careful though. Swirls are the result of laziness.

5. I love 303 Aerospace Protectant. Also Fieldcrest 100% towels, and most recently ultra-suede MF towels for glass and buffing Zaino after removal.

This is just a short list. Good luck and welcome.

i c, thanks for the clarification.

for everyone else, please continue to give ur input on the subject matter:D :up

Welcome aboard, I like:

wash: Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo (or Maguires Gold Class)

QD: One Grand Show-off (or Mothers)

Klasse All in One, Klasse Sealent Glaze, and Blitz (carnuba)

use 3M's IHG to prep the surface. I kinda stray from the rest here that use Klasse and Zaino, probably the only one that uses First Finish. I use EO Wipe-N-Shine and Boyd's QD as well as Meguires

QD. I use Blitz a lot also, probably every week I apply some!

If your new Ng, go to CMA's main site and study all the articles, it will give you a good idea of what everybody here uses. It's very important to study that stuff first. Most of the debate here centers around Klasse and Zaino, both excellent products. Welcome to the best detailing forum in town!!!!!!!!!

1. I like Meguiars Gold Class wash. It is very good quality, and it can be bought at Target for $9.99/gallon.

2. Surface prep can be a tough question. It really depends on what is wrong with the paint. For meduim to light swirls and scratches I like 3M Finesse It II Finishing Material. Or for very light swirls and scratches, 3M Swirl Mark Remover. Either can be applied by hand or machine.

3. I use both Klasse and Zaino. Both are great products, and they will give you months of protection. I have Klasse on 3 of my cars, and Zaino on 1.

4. To maintain your finish I would wash weekly, and QD as needed. Some good QD's are Meguiars Final Inspection for non-caranuba based, Eimann Fabrik Clear Pearl for caranuba based. There are many other good QD's, these are just examples.

These products are just what I prefer, there are a ton of other good products out there. Try out a bunch of them, and see what ones you like the best. Also search the archives, there are tons of threads on a wide range of topics and products. Oh yeah, welcome to the forum, you are going to love it here. :up

Good Luck!!

I suggest you take a day or two and read most of the threads on here. I did and there is a wealth healthy opinions, suggestions, and tips.

The Autopia site is a must read as well as the e-book. I alos suggest reading the CMA site about all the products they sell.

thanks for the replies so far again! i have been reading through the threads here and search a few specific things too. but what does CMA mean? can i get a link please?

feel free to continue to reply here and tell me what u guys think

CMA= Classic Motoring Accessories. They sponsor this site. Their website is www.properautocare.com Also, look in the top right corner of the page, you can click on where it says Classic Motoring Accessories and it will take you there.

Ng Luder--from SHO and Honda Society also?

I tend to stick with Meguiars Body Shop Professional line--you will have to go to their website and click on the link for professional products distributer in you are to get it.

For most paint, I use BSP Swirl Free or Hand Polish, depending on surface defects--nearly perfect paint I use the Hand Polish, and for light defects, I use Swirl Free.

For slightly damaged paint (scratches, light oxidation, etc) I step up to BSP Dual Action Cleaner/Polish. It starts off aggressive and quickly breaks down into a polish, so it doesn't leave light scratches the way the Mirror Glaze Fine Cut Cleaner can.

For waxing, I use either Meguiars High Tech Yellow Wax or 3Ms Perfect-it Show Car Paste Wax (not the liquid). Both are easy on and off and will not dry white or haze plastic.

I use Eagle's 20/20 Window cleaner. Works great and repels water almost as well as Rain X.

1. Zaino Z7 , Pinnacle Bodywork Shampoo , P21S-Bodywork Shampoo , and Meguiar's Gold class.

2. For swirls i like 3M products , Wizards priducts are also good on swirls. Paint cleansing lotions like Pinnacle and P21S also work well.

3.Klasse and Zaino for sealants. One Grand and Pinnacle for wax.

4. Zaino Z6 , Eimann Fabrik Clear Prarl , Wizards Mist-n-Shine , and Meguiar's FI.

Good luck:)

yup thats me, originated from SHO, went to hondaacura.net, split to hondaprelude.com and thats where i am now. im also on honda society but very little. but basically HP is my home now and i love it there

i notice that this forum, hold alot less per page. i mean its already pg 2 here with no more than 10 real replies not including me. but its very nice to have an entire site with mostly car care info. been looking for a good one for awhile...

Click on the first button above "user cp" then choose "edit options" and change your threads per page to 40 or whatever. That should get you what you want.
