Hi............from Malaysia

Welcome!

Spent a few days in Lumpr, worked with Protron, they had a lot of paint issues.

What a bunch of idiots, it's a wonder they are still in business.

Thanks for the greeting. Btw Proton is our national car manufacturer, it's crap.

Are they still buying old molds, engines, etc from Mitsubisi for the builds?

The first few years all they were was rebadged old Mitsu's, put together there.

However, that is how Hyundai got in the car business.

I know it is the "national" car, protected by the government by using high tariffs on any other import to the country. (at least when I was there)

I have heard that they are slowly improving their vehicles, due to alliances with some European manufacturers.

Nowadays Proton have their own design, but quality and parts reliability are lousy, those cannot afford japs or conti cars will buy Proton, Jap and Conti car are damn expensive, price is 3x higher than US. We have 2nd national car call "Perodua", mostly re-badged Daihatsu, is the best selling car in Malaysia.

Proton acquired Lotus in 1994, till now they yet to produce a good Proton !!!

Looks like you know well for the auto industry policy in our country !!
