First let me apologize if this is in the wrong area. I am not a professional, but more of an amatuer detailing my own vehicles. I have recently purchased a 2014 Dodge Ram 1500 Black Out Edition and I really love the glossy wet look I've seen over and over again with Blackfire products.

Having never used Blackfire, I'm confused on which products to order. I would like to get a sealant layer down on the nice new paint to prevent any scratching or contaminants from causing issues in the future. Are there products you reccommend that would give me maximum protection, and still yeild unbelievable results?

Also I'm almost embarrased to ask this question, but I had a Porsche Cayman which I always cared for by hand. However, this new truck is huge and would take days by hand, would a black and decker hand held random orbital polisher be safe to use? I have somewhat limited funds (started my son in private school last Monday), and I do not want to practice with a DA polisher on my nice new truck.

Thank you,

Mike

I also started with the BF line. Gloss Enhancing Polish, All Purpose Paint Protection, Midnight Sun Carnauba Wax and Crystal Seal. I have only done my F-150 by hand with these, and the look was stellar. Still need to take some scratches out, but it looks so good and haven't had the time but I think you'll love the look even by hand. I did get the PC DA and it isn't hard to use and learn on.

First, WELCOME

Next, I'm not sure about your polisher so........ HAND it is, but easier than you may think

Steps

Wash
Clay
Wash
BF TPNS by hand
remove haze

Then you can relax for a while (read 6 hours to a few weeks)

Wash
Blackfire wet Diamond by hand
remove
Admire your work

Sweet!! Maybe I'll try my super cheap buffer inside the sidewalls of the bed. That way if it screws something up, it'll be eventually covered by a spray in liner! Didn't think of it before, but it's the perfect testing area since it'll eventually be permanently sealed under a 1/4" or so layer of indestructible liner material. I can also test the hand method, with the same level of safety. Thank you 07gtcs and Ronkh! I appreciate the feedback on products, and it sounds like I found the right products!

No sweat.

I can *just about* guarantee that you follow above stuff and your vehicle will look better than 90% of what the dealer puts out.

I do see a down side to this for you though.....

so fair warning

IT WILL BECOME ADDICTING :rockon

then you're gonna be on here daily looking for "specials" and trying to get that touch better look. more glow, deeper dark reflections, more ripple effect.

you're gonna start carrying micro and qd in a baggie incase a bird poops or you get a finger print.........

if ya feel like adding another 20-30 $ to your order throw in a bottle of bf crystal spray and put that on a few days after the bfwd

Sounds like I will need a detailing bag so I can keep some supplies in the truck in case it rains while I'm at work! I became addicted to detailing after I bought the Porsche. However, it was used and it was a Porsche so I never wanted to experiment on it. I realize this is a Ram and not a Porsche, but it's very new, and very gorgeous! I can test inside the bed, and move up to my wife's 4Runner, before I touch the truck with a real polisher. However, the DA polisher may have to wait until Chirstmas.... That gives me a lot of time to read and research!

That's a gorgeous truck and you won't be disappointed with Blackfire. Trust me when I say this..ditch the idea of a B&D wax spreader, and buy a Porter Cable or Griots polisher. Practicing on the inside of your bed is a great idea, and by the time you get that finished, you will have a good idea of how it feels. Its really nothing to be scared of if your just doing light polishing and sealing. You would actually be better off doing it by hand as opposed to one of those giant machines anyway.

nice ram you got there

if you're going to do the hand approach you might look into some good hand applicators.. i really enjoy using the ccs euro foam hand applicators, they come in orange, white, red and gold...you wont get the same results as using a DA but I have found the red one to be really good at putting on wax and the gold one works quite well for opti-seal or something similar

yep

I would do all of this by hand, unless you have some major scratches from the dealership where you bought your truck. Good supreme microfiber products, in addition to good sealants will be all you need, with a new truck? With the right "tools" (applicators & microfiber) and products, it will not take that long. The longest time, may be allowing proper curing times between steps. Put down a good "base". Your new Ride IS new. Congrats....
