my car is an 03 honda civic nighthawk black... i wash with mequires car wash... dry with towel..... apply mequieres scatch x then buff off... then apply meguires #7 then buff off.. then apply meguires nxt wax and buff off.... now to get some carnuba wax on which kind should i use.... do i have to go with a 40 dollar nxt wax or can i just use a generic carnuba paste at 4.99. i have never thought about adding a carnuba wax after my poly wax so this is a new process for me and i am curious to see the results.....

instalher- The benefits from adding a specific type of wax topper are usually subtle to say the least. I can't help but think you oughta just try Meguiar's #26 for this. It's good on colors like black.

Oh, and note that the correct use of Scratch-x isn't to just apply and buff off; it needs to be worked into the paint so the abrasives affect correction and break down...*then* you buff off the residue, preferably before it has dried completely. For more/better info see some of the "how to" posts by Mike Phillips.
