Help wrong wax used

I sure hope someone can help me. My nephew thought he was doing me a favor and he waxed my car. He poured the wax in a bucket without looking at what he was pouring he used it. My car looked great I didn't pay any attention to it until about 3 weeks later I noticed on the hood, trunk and top it was getting a funny haze like when your paint is losing its luster. The rest of the car looks ok. I checked I had him get me the bottle he used and to my horror it was floor wax. Does anyone know how I can get this off my car without damaging the paint. Someone had told me to try Nu Shine I tried it on a very small section to no avail. I sure hope there is something I can do short of repainting it.

I would try
Poorboys world pro-polish
or
Pinnacle Black Label Surface Cleansing Polish

and see what that gives you.

be prepared to put wax of chice on after this because it will remove any protection.
(pref not floor wax)
 
Well, don't listen to the guy who said use nufinsh! Thats first.... :)

second try a small does of m205, might clear things up. How do you plan to tackle this, hand application? do you have a machine?
 
I am so sorry this happened to you..

Nu-shine anything is useless..

If you have an auto body paint store nearby, they will sell an automotive paint degreaser, wax remover that is a liquid that is applied and wiped off the vehicle before painting..
It used to be called Prep-Sol (solvent), but Im pretty sure it has a different name now..

And, as has already been stated above, you might want to polish the paint really good and then put on some real automotive paint protection...

There are several choices at the Store here..
What year, make, and model of vehicle ?

From the store, try Megs Ultimate Polish applied with a microfiber pad.

Regardless, as you can see, we are recommending polishing.

Wash the car to start, then I would clay to see what you can / are lifting..if there is anything on the surface it's going to come off with the clay.

I really don't think that the Nu-Finish did any harm to the paint or clear coat.. Then I would use a chemical based polish like a paint cleaner..PB PP is my choice there...This will continue to clean the clear coat of any hazing..Then apply a good coat of wax or whatever you like as a LSP
