help with wool pads

I need to get a new wool pad for my PC.

The original one that I got with my pad starter kit from CMA is all gummed up and i can't get the residue out of it.

I've searched thru the archives and found several things:

1. There are three main manufacturers of wool pads: Meguiar's, 3M and Lake Country.

2. the two online stores in Canada that sell lake country pads do not stock the wool one. I can get the 3M or Meguiar's wool pad thru my local CMAX.

3. from the big PC thread, 4dsc has said that although the meguiar's site only lists the wool pad in 8", it is available in 6.5".

4. In another thread someone (i think 4dsc) said that there are different "levels" of wool that are used in the pads. Can anyone comment on this further?

I've got some swirlies that i just cannot remove with DACP and a yellow pad. I've gone over and over them but they just won't budge. I went to town on them with a wool pad and DACP in the spring, but like i said, now the wool pad is so gummed up that i can't remove all of the product and don't want to risk putting more scratches in from the dried up product.

Can someone comment on 3M vs Meguiar's vs Lake Country wool pads? I need to get one within the next week.

Cheers

Tim

Never heard of Lakeshore. Must be Canadian. Here in the US we have Lake Country pads. Buff and Shine is another mfr that comes to mind that makes wool pads. I think http://www.detailplus.com sells and discusses the different blends of wool pads. Perhaps a wool pad spur could help your situation. Problem I hear from lots of Canadians is getting supplies in/to Canada :(

oops, It is Lake Country, not Lakeshore. slydexia strikes again :)

As for shipping across the border, it's usually not a problem unless you're getting into shipping weird chemicals. I had to order my Klasse twins from the US.

The main problem is getting bent over at the border with duty and brokerage fees. Though a lot of the mail order places in the US realize that peope from Canada were boycotting them because they used UPS to ship everything (~$30-40 brokerage fee regardless of what's being ordered) and have switched to shipping via USPS. takes a few more days, but to me that extra few days is a worthy trade-off for the lack of brokerage fees.

Woah! just had a major problem connecting properly to Autopia, I think my one cable connection IP address might be having problems with Autopia  Any way, try e mailing the US websites that sell wool pads and see what they can do about shipping to canada

but my original question was can anyone comment on the quality/performance of Lake Country vs Meguiar's vs 3M wool pads?

if the 3M wool pads are just as good, i can pick one up locally rather than having to mail order it.

Unless I missed it in my search, I don't believe a wool pad comparison between brands has been posted here. Will be interested in seeing that. FWIW, I'm happy with my LC wool pad, I even wash it by hand with Dawn and spin it dry on my PC, still looking good. Even my little 4" wool pads I got locally are good with the exception of the one dedicated only for metal polish. It's a little worn but still very usable. Until I get my pad cleaning tool I have just been washing them by hand.
