help with indention

i call this an indention because it's too small to be a dent, and yet too big to be a scratch. my plastic (or fiberglass) rear fender got hit the other day (backed into, or something slight) and this is the outcome:

you can tell this is a square object that hit me, and three of the corners are visible. the two bottom corners are very slight, and the top one is somewhat obvious. the bottom right corner has a bit of smearing from me rubbing the dirt off with my hand also. and from far away, any of this is barely noticeable:

and of course the farther you distance yourself from the scratch, the less noticeable it is. in fact, from 10 feet away it's not noticeable at all except for maybe the difference in the light reflection because of the indention. and also, it might just be noticeable to just me. probably the majority of people look at the car and would never see this.

so my question is - how do i fix this, or get close to fixing it? i have a feeling that touch-up paint is just going to make it worse, but i don't know if the paint/clear coat, or what has been removed from the damage. it doesn't appear any paint is missing, but it is white also... so i don't know.

i'd like to get the indention leveled off, but i think that might be near impossible without making it look obvious. if i can't do that, i'd like to at least make the white parts blue so that the only way you can notice this is if the light hits it the right way or if you are right on top of it. otherwise, it's unnoticeable. thanks for the help.

It is very difficult to see anything in your pictures because of the low quality. I'm going to guess your car is a Camaro from the "CA" in the pic and the exhaust pipe. You should be able to remove the rear plastic bumper cover and pop out the indentation, or you could try a suction cup.

Depending on how deep the scratches are you might be able to buff the majority of it out with a rubbing compound.

If you are particular about it, maybe it would be wise to take it to a professional body shop and have them wetsand it or respray it.

first of all, it's the rear bumper cover, not the quarter panel. the rear cover is plastic or fiberglass - very easy to bend.

secondly, if i took the panel out, how would i pop the indention out from there? what tools would i use?

as far as the camera quality goes, i've looked at it on two different computers and it doesn't look low quality at all. perhaps i'm too close, or my car is too dirty, but those are very high res (toned down in microsoft paint) pics from a $500 camera. i dunno what's up with that.

thanks for the help, and answering my questions.

I didn't mean the res of the pics, what I meant was it is tough to see the actual indentation/scratches because of the light and reflections etc. The price of your camera really has no bearing on it. :-)

If you take the plastic bumper cover off, then you can just pop out the indentation from behind. Kind of like a coke bottle or milk jug.

if it messed with the fiber glass (cracked bent etc) it will have to have pro help probably. i doubt it would look good if you could pop it out because it would probably mess up the paint

Unfortunately, that is not going to pop out. It's a very sharp crease and more than likely, it's mostly paint damamge. I would recommend polishing out the area and filling in the area with touch up paint. Wet sand and polish in between coats and layer the paint to fill in the scratch. Allow each coat to cure for 24 hrs. Have patience and it will look good as new.
