I'm toying with the idea of ordering a few things from Griot's, but wanted to access the minds of those that have used these products first -

Griot's Rubber Cleaner - What do you think?

Griot's Speed Shine QD Spray - Any comments? Equal to Clear Pearl?

Griot's leather Care/Conditioner - Any Good?

Any and all comments appreciated. :)

Last time I was as Nordstroms I asked some customers about a few things being sold over at Macy's, and got strange looks, but helpful advice. Hope you get the same.

Griot's Rubber Cleaner - Didn't think it did much.

Griot's Speed Shine QD Spray - Good shine, not outstanding, I like Clear Pearl better.

Griot's leather Care/Conditioner - works fine, but not appreciably better than anything else.

Overall, Griots sells above-average, but not outstanding, detailing products. They are pricey.

i've used griots qd and i like it. i also have a gallon of cp.

griots has high lubricity. more than clear pearl.

i can't really tell the difference in shine between griots qd and cp but for me lubricity, to reduce the chances of scratches, is more important.

First off, let me say that these Lake Country pads(Cyan and Tangerine) are awesome! Combine them with M105, SIP, M205, and a variety of other products, and you have yourself a lethal weapon in the detailing industry!

My problem.......They will not last more that one single car! What am I doing wrong? The expense is far too high if these pads only last for one single car, then the pads are useless. Doesn't matter if I use Rotary, Flex or DA, the result is ALWAYS the same!

Here is a picture of a pad that I used on half of a hood. This was a brand new pad when I started, and after buffing half a hood, this is what I was left with.....

After finishing an entire vehicle, the pad is all but destroyed. I've tried everything to make these pads last, and nothing works. I've gone through approximately 20 of them and it's always the same result.

Somebody able to tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Nick

Very odd...

This is the second account of this that I have heard of but I have yet to have this happen to me...

In fact, I am taking a breather from polishing with the Cyan/Tangerine pads on hard MB clear and I am applying TONS of pressure and they are wearing fine...

Sorry this is happening to you

I've got 2 year old generic pads that aren't in that condition. Gotta be some kinda pad failure. How much product do you apply to your pad? I know you say they have only been used once, but how old are they and where/how were they stored. That really bites :Snowman:

Yikes! Though it's not any consolation to you, I've used mine several times now without any issues. M105/205, KBM and on my rotary!

Can you offer any more use comments like machine, speed, paint conditions etc. Not that I'll be much help to you but I'm curious as to the specific circumstances regarding such fast degradation.

Pads are stored at my shop in plastic containers. But that should have no bearing on this pad. It was removed from the plastic bag, then used on the vehicle.

Doesn't matter how I use it, the result is always the same. Rotary, Flex or DA. I've tried a range of different speeds on each machine, and even tried zero pressure. But the end result is always the same. I love these pads very much, but if they won't last, they aren't cost effective for a business.

Let me say this before there's any confusion. I don't mean to give these pads any bad press by posting my problems. These are awesome pads! But I need help figuring out how to make them last, and this is the place to go for this info!

if its any consolation i bought one of the big blue waffle weave towels from PAC that came from a bad batch of mf and they replaced it with no problem. maybe they'll find out the same about your pads. i'm sure jack or todd or angelo will chime in soon... good luck

Late.....:o If this is all these pads can handle, you've convinced me not to purchase them. How could you be so excited with those results :out:

The results they provide are top notch(aside from the condition of the pad). A lot of people are having great success with these pads for long term use. But something I'm doing is causing these failures. I'm posting on here to try and figure it out so I can take advantage of these pads for the long term. Please don't judge these pads based on my experience, as many many others have had great success with them.

I've already discussed this with Angelo in the past. No need to try and get anything free. This is obviously something I'm causing by my buffing style, or something.

I'll get of hold of the Pad Man at Lake Country about this matter about the pads everyone. He should be able to do some of his magic for us all...:wizard:
